Details are finally starting to trickle out as The Witcher Netflix series continues to take shape. The most recent development being a list of the show's major characters as described by its writer, Lauren Hissrich.

The Witcher series has been an industry titan ever since its third entry, The Witcher 3, was released in 2015. While it does have its detractors and is by no means absolutely perfect, CD Projekt Red's open world RPG has nevertheless developed a strong fan base and enjoyed a great deal of critical and commercial support. The game series is actually based on a series of books that have been around since the 80's, but it didn't receive attention on a grand scale until the game series began in 2007. With so many fans hungry for more Witcher content, it comes as no surprise that the idea of a television adaptation would be met with a great deal of excitement.

Ever since it was announced last year that Netflix is working on a television adaptation of The Witcher to its service, fans of the game and Andrzej Sapkowski's books have been itching to know just who and what is going to be included. There's quite a lot of ground to cover between the games and the books, far too much to realistically cram into a television show.

It's still unknown what the show's plot will look like, but at least fans now have an idea of which characters will play important roles in its story. Earlier this week, the show's writer started posting tweets describing the show's primary characters. So far, fans can look forward to important roles for Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, Jaskier, Triss Merigold, Cahir, Regis, Vilgefortz, Emhyr, Milva Barring, Leo Bonhart,  and Borch Three Jackdaws.

It seems Roach, Geralt's trusty horse, will also be getting proper attention as well. This is important because while every Roach is a good horse, not every horse is a good Roach. There's still much that needs to be done before the show will be ready to air, but fans may not need to worry about being left out of the loop for too long as development continues.

So far, Hissrich has been very open about the process and might have more to share in the future. Hopefully, The Witcher series will eventually see success and pave the way for more competently-made video game TV adaptations.
