The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains a favorite for RPG fans. Even six years later, the community continues to design and create their own Witcher fan-art, including a wide variety of cosplays. While there are plenty of creative individuals in the cosplaying scene, a wide margin of artists purchase their outfits and props from third parties. Some fans, however, are talented enough that they can create their designs entirely from scratch. One Witcher fan in particular did just that, recreating Geralt of Rivia’s iconic armor entirely by hand.

The outfit is based off of The Witcher 3's design of Geralt, which includes his School of the Wolf amulet and both his steel and silver sword. The armor in particular is modeled after the Viper armor set from in-game. For those unaware, the Viper set is one of five Witcher armor sets that players can craft after completing its associated quest. Unlike the other sets, however, the Viper armor also shares the same visual design as Geralt’s default armor from the start of the game. Considering that Geralt wears this same armor in various screenshots, trailers, and even on the title screen, it's easily recognizable for any kind of fan of the series, which makes it a great choice for a costume such as this.

The costume is courtesy of Reddit user SurSparkz, who is no amateur to designing armor. The artist created a few outfits previously for games such as The Legend of Zelda, and even DOOM. According to SurSparkz, their Geralt of Rivia costume took years to perfect. They revealed via the comments that the chain mail alone took at least half of their time to finish, and yet, they were still able to create every piece of the armor from scratch. The artist even used a custom mannequin to fit their form, meaning they’ll have a few cosplay photos to share in the future.

Overall, the creation is a hit with fans. The armor matches the original Viper design perfectly, sporting the various belts and straps, while the cloth underneath has been spray-painted to match the faded pattern on the in-game model. The costume even features Geralt’s trophy hook, used to display the head of his recent contract. Considering the entire design was created by hand, it's incredible how accurate the armor is to the in-game counterpart. It will be interesting to see how this fan pulls off a full Geralt of Rivia cosplay.

SurSparkz is just one of many creative Witcher fans. Recently, another artist cosplayed as The Witcher 3's Eskel, complete with the Wolf School armor. With season two of Netflix's The Witcher on its way, along with the Nightmare of the Wolf standalone movie, there's plenty of new content for fans to explore. Hopefully, this means even more amazing content from the community, including SurSparkz own finished cosplay of Geralt.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
