The primary antagonist of The Witcher 3, Eredin Breacc Glas, will reportedly be featured in The Witcher: Blood Origin. The beloved villain will be played by actor Jacob Collins-Levy.

The Witcher 3 game is where Eredin has been shining up until this point. His character serves as the crucial and essential villain. It’s looking like the spotlight will also transfer over to the villain when he is featured in the upcoming Blood Origin prequel series as well, according to Redanian Intelligence.

However, Collins-Levy was not the first actor to be cast as the ultimate Witcher villain. It was originally reported that actor Sam Hazeldine was to play the role of Eredin instead. There could be several reasons as to why Collins-Levy was given the role in the end. Blood Origin is supposed to take place 1200 years before the original series, so time will most likely be a big part of the show. Actor Hazeldine has been mentioned as having a very small cameo in the second season of The Witcher. Since he has been somewhat a part of the series, his being cast in the prequel originally is not that surprising. However, the reason for this sudden shift in actors could have been implemented due to time jumps. Therefore, it makes much more sense that Hazeldine will be playing an older version of the notorious villain while Levy fulfills the main role as a younger man.

The decision to re-cast the character of Eredin may speak volumes as to what fans can expect from him in Blood Origin. On the other hand, it may have been something as minuscule as a change or conflict regarding scheduling. Either way, the strategic emphasis on the character of Eredin gives fans further confirmation of just how much significance he will have in the prequel.

Eredin will definitely be known to fans of The Witcher 3, but some avid fans of the series may have little to no knowledge of the villain. In the game, Eredin is referred to as the “king of the wild hunt” - which basically means he is in charge of an entire pack of vicious warriors. He inherited all of his power by capturing Ciri and stealing her magical gifts in order to carry out his conniving plans.

As of right now, release dates for The Witcher: Blood Origin and the second season of The Witcher are still up in the air. Production for the second season of The Witcher reportedly wrapped last April, so fans can at least expect season 2 to be out sometime in 2021. Although fans will most likely have to wait until 2022 to see the admired villain in Blood Origin.

The Witcher: Blood Origin does not have an announced release date at this time.
