CD Projekt Red has recently announced that a new Witcher game is in development. However, due to the company striking a partnership with Epic Games, some fans are worried about the possibility of the new Witcher title being exclusive to the Epic Games Store. It has also been announced that the new title will be utilizing Unreal Engine 5, rather than CD Projekt Red's own REDengine, which was used for the previous Witcher releases. This comes as a surprise seeing as CD Projekt Red has stuck with their REDengine through thick and thin, especially with Cyberpunk 2077.RELATED: New Witcher Game Won't Be Called 'The Witcher 4', Developer saysSince a new Witcher game was announced, fans have had many questions. On Twitter, the global PR director for CD Projekt Red, Radek Grabowski, posted about the planned long-term partnership between the game developer and Epic Games. This led some people to worry that part of this partnership would include making the next Witcher game exclusive to Epic's own storefront, the Epic Game Store. In response to these concerns, the official The Witcher Twitter page replied, stating that there are no plans to make the next Witcher game exclusive to any one storefront.

Besides finding out what engine the game will be running on, another piece of solid information that has been revealed at the time of writing is who is heading up the project. Jason Slama will be leading development on the new title. Slama previously worked as the director on the Gwent standalone title.

The only other sliver of information that fans have to go off at the moment is the teaser image that was posted with the announcement. The image shows a Witcher medallion lying in the snow. Fans were quick to begin speculating which Witcher school the medallion belongs to, with some suggesting that it may be a from a new school. CD Projekt Red has in fact confirmed that the medallion heralds from the school of the Lynx. Considering that the school of the Lynx is lesser known than the established schools, there is a possibility that the new saga will stray even further from the source material, the popular novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski.

The upcoming Witcher game is currently in development.
