Fans discover a strange Twilight Easter egg in CD Projekt RED's fantasy RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game is stuffed full of jokes and secrets, like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill Easter eggs so it's not surprising that fans are discovering things so long after release.

On Reddit, a Witcher 3: Wild Hunt player shared a screenshot of text from an in-game book called Moribundia: The Vampire's Last Likeness. The made-up book seems to be a Twilight fan-fiction written by CD Projekt RED, as it talks about a character named Isabella embracing the "icy lips" of a vampire named Edward. However, Isabella says that her "heart doth long with fiercer passion for yon werewolf," a werewolf that vampire Edward "hatest with all thy vampiric thouness." The book is a fun medieval version of Twilight and a confirmation that CD Projekt RED's developers are a bunch of smart, Team Jacob supporters.

The Twilight books, while ridiculously popular, aren't known for being some of the best prose about vampires, so some may be surprised to see them referenced here. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, vampires can also be incredibly strong, with higher vampires being so rare and able to hide among humans so well that Geralt cannot identify them with his Witcher medallion. That's quite a big difference from Twilight, in which Edward sparkles in daylight, and physically recoils after smelling Bella.

It also shows that despite The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt having an abundance of Easter eggs, from drunken tattoos to Game of Thrones characters, the development team was never at risk of running out of ideas. Some players may also wonder how many Easter eggs there are left to find in the game. This Twilight Easter egg was found in a book, more than five years after the game was first released, suggesting that there could be quite a lot players haven't seen.

It seems likely that CD Projekt RED's next game, Cyberpunk 2077, will feature a huge number of Easter eggs too. Members of the media who played a new Cyberpunk 2077 demo, confirmed it has a Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Easter egg. Some official art for the game also featured a Witcher medallion.

While Cyberpunk 2077 has just been delayed to November, CD Projekt RED has been developing the game for more than five years. This will have given the development team plenty of time to add several Easter eggs and fans will be looking hard for them at launch.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
