As of today, the upcoming Netflix adaptation of The Witcher franchise still lacks a specific release date. While the casting of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia was met with some skepticism at first, there is now a way to see the actor bring Geralt to life in CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3.

Modder Adan444 released a new facial model for The Witcher 3, swapping out Geralt's iconic look in the game with the face of actor Henry Cavill. The first and current version of the mod is based on Cavill's initial screen test for the Netflix show. However, the modder revealed that other versions will be released in the future "with scars, dirt, brown hair with blue eyes etc, but first of all, now I'm presenting a look closer to Geralt in the Netflix show."

As the mod made its rounds online, Geralt's voice actor, Doug Cockle, responded to the news that the actor has unknowingly infiltrated his territory. Speaking to IGN, Cockle has this to say about the latest mod: "How dare they mod out my perfectly facial captured image of Game Geralt. Leave Geralt alone guys...he's fine as he is...but I giggled a bit."

Last month, Netflix released official photos of Cavill in full Witcher attire, alongside a poster for the series with the caption, "the worst monsters are those we create." The streaming giant also unveiled the first look for the show's other characters including Ciri portrayed by Freya Allan, Triss, played by Anna Schafer, and Yennefer portrayed by Anya Chalotra.

The upcoming Netflix adaptation is yet to release an official trailer but a release window of late 2019 has been confirmed. While the latest Geralt mod will see the cross-over of the Netflix series to the game franchise, it appears that it won't go the other way around. Ever since the announcement of the Netflix adaptation, the company has been clear that the show will be based on The Witcher novels, and will not be inspired by the game franchise in any way.

Meanwhile, a visual upgrade mod for The Witcher 3 was released through Nexus mods last month, which is perfect for players who may want to play the game with better graphics. The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project improved the game's 3D models and textures, while still retaining CD Projekt Red's original art style.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version coming out this year.
