CD Projekt Red announced the release date for Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch with a new trailer that shows much more footage than what they showed at E3.

The trailer shows what the game will look like on the console. In order to bring the game to Switch, the game required a bit of a visual downgrade from the impressively detailed graphics shown on the initial launch. The textures look much smoother with a lower fidelity overall, but for the most part, the game looks like Witcher 3.

The new trailer also announced the release date for the new version of the game. Witcher 3 Complete Edition will officially come to Nintendo’s hybrid console on October 15th. The Complete Edition features all of the DLC released for the game.

Witcher 3 came out in 2015 and represented a huge step forward for what players would come to expect from RPGs. Witcher 3 features a huge open world and a main story quest that runs more than 50 hours. The Complete Edition also includes some new stories and a new area that add another 40+ hours of gameplay.

Aside from the lower visual fidelity and detail on the Switch, the game will run at a lower resolution which will depend on whether players dock the console or bring it with them. When docked, Witcher 3 on Switch will run at 720p, and when in handheld mode, that will drop to 540p. These resolutions match what other more modern titles like Doom and Wolfenstien have pulled off on the Switch.

Apart from the new trailer, the team at CD Projekt Red have also uploaded a 40 minute let’s play video with the developers of the game. They talk through more of the features of the Switch port and show off a ton more gameplay. They show off some of the game’s locations and a few of the missions. The game looks to run smoothly on the console.

Many fans of Witcher 3 have already played the game multiple times, but have never before had the opportunity to separate the experience from the couch or the PC. In October, fans looking to jump in for another run can now do so on the go. Witcher 3’s quest structure should work well with the portability of the console. Folks who missed it for first time around will have no excuse but to jump in and give it a try.

The Witcher 3 is available now on PC, Playstation4, and Xbox One X. It will release on October 15th on Switch.
