As with other open-world action RPGs, such as The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, or the Fallout series, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt benefits from an active modding community. Whether it be graphical enhancements to The Witcher 3 that helps the nearly seven-year-old game keep up with the graphics of today, or the sillier mods that grant each goose in the game a Santa hat, the modding community of The Witcher 3 has been creating ways to amplify the experience of the game for those who want it.

With The Witcher 3 being over six years old at this point, many players of the game are using mods to keep their favorite fantasy-RPG fresh. There's even rumors that the upcoming next-gen remake of The Witcher 3 could be using player-created mods, showing that the developers of the game have also been paying attention to what's going on in the modding community. Recently, one modder has decided to give players the chance to ditch the game's design of Geralt for a closer representation of the Witcher as seen in the Netflix series.

The second season of Netflix's The Witcher dropped in December 2021, and though it was criticized by some fans for its handling of book material, fans of The Witcher were mostly united in their praise of Henry Cavill in his performance of Geralt of Rivia. Despite the Netflix series basing itself on the books, many fans spotted similarities between Cavill's Geralt and the Witcher seen in The Witcher 3, leading to one mod which now allows players to choose to swap out their armor with the clothes and armor seen in the Netflix series.

For players who wish to shove a likeness of Henry Cavill into their game, the padded leather armor seen in season 2 can be equipped, alongside the black cloth shirt that Geralt wore for most of season 1. The modder who created this mod also has created mods retexturing Geralt to look like Henry Cavill, Ciri to look like her Netflix actress Freya Allan, and Yennefer to look like Anya Chalotra, allowing any fan of the Netflix series to recreate as much of that Witcher universe as possible in the game.

These mods may not add much in terms of gameplay, extra quests, or notable changes to how the game works, yet for anyone who wants to see Henry Cavill's face, accompanied by the fan-favorite performance of The Witcher 3 voice actor Doug Cockle, this mod is a must-have. As time goes on, there will likely be more recreations of the Netflix Witcher placed into The Witcher 3, allowing players to be in their own version of the show.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
