A fan of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has discovered an unusual bug in the game that replaces Geralt of Rivia’s iconic silver hairdo with a bright and bold new look. This amusing bug is just one of several unusual glitches in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that players have discovered since developer CD Projekt Red released a next-gen update for the title earlier this month.

Originally released for PC and consoles in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the third entry in the series of games based off Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski’s popular novels. Following the continuing exploits of monster hunter Geralt of Rivia, the titular Witcher, The Witcher 3 was praised by critics for its strong narrative, vibrant open world, and drastically improved combat compared to its predecessors. The recently released next-gen update for the game brought a slew of graphical and quality of life improvements to the title, but also created serious performance problems that led to The Witcher 3 being review bombed on Steam by frustrated PC players.

In a new post on r/thewitcher3, Reddit user Staaani showed off a screenshot of a bug they discovered in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that swapped out the silver of Geralt’s tresses for a garish, glowing orange. Shining even brighter than the Witcher’s mutated eyes, the new hairdo seems more suited for Night City than the Continent, making it the perfect look to sport when tracking down the Cyberpunk 2077 Easter egg in The Witcher 3. In a world where Witchers are already hated and feared by most humans, this conspicuous new look certainly makes it harder for Geralt to maintain a low profile.

Amused by the unusual bug, responses on Reddit were filled with jokes about the distinctive new look for one of gaming’s most recognizable protagonists. Noting the resemblance to a certain MCU hero, one commenter remarked that CD Projekt Red had gotten Chris Hemsworth to play Geralt in the new update. Taking inspiration from the world of anime, other commenters joked that Geralt of Rivia had obviously turned Super Sayan. In what sounds like it could make for an epic video game crossover, some redditors noted the uncanny resemblance between the now unexpectedly orange-haired hero of The Witcher 3 and the dastardly deity Aries from God of War.

Luckily for Staaani and other players who find Geralt sporting a new look, this unusual bug is humorous and harmless when compared to some of the more serious problems with The Witcher 3 on PC. Even though this particular bug may be benign, for gamers already frustrated with glitches and poor performance it may feel like further evidence that the next-gen update was pushed out too soon.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
