The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt turned five years old this week and the franchise has only gained popularity. Netflix adapted the franchise to a live-action show that will be entering its second season and a spin-off game has even been released based on a card game from The Witcher. One of the many reasons The Witcher has become so popular is the deep lore and amazing characters. This has sparked many fans to cosplay as those characters and the quality has gotten even better five years after the game's release.

One fan created an amazing Geralt of Rivia cosplay to celebrate the five year anniversary. Some cosplayers will add their own creativity and flair to cosplay, while others try to perfectly recreate the character's look. The picture of the fan's Geralt cosplay is so accurate to the in-game character that some believed it was a screenshot at first. Not only does the cosplayer nail Geralt's signature white, long hair and beard, but also has a very realistic looking scar.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the cosplay is how great the armor looks. Every piece of armor matches what Geralt wears in-game, down to the perfectly placed chain-mail and his sword sheaths. The armor is incredibly detailed and even appears a little worn, as it does on Geralt. The cosplay even includes the Witcher medallion clipped to the chest piece of the armor.

Cosplaying as video game characters is no easy feat. Although graphics of video games have drastically improved, it is still difficult to match certain qualities of characters, whether it be physical proportions or special effects. This coplayer was able to recreate Geralt as a real character almost flawlessly using excellent costume crafting and attention to detail.

Henry Cavill could be considered the official live-action representation of Geralt, but the Netflix adaptation does not match the video game model exactly, instead being based off his description in the books. However, Cavill does match many of the physical qualities like white hair and bright yellow eyes in the show. The Netflix show has been able to capture the attention of fans who may not have known about the franchise and now would like to discover the deep story of The Witcher.

The Witcher started as books that were eventually converted into widely popular video games. The series originated in Poland from author Andrzej Sapkowski but became famous worldwide when the video games were made. The Witcher continues to gain popularity in every medium, and fans will continue to recreate the characters in truly stunning ways.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
