Although the game's base version is beloved by many, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is also heralded for its wide modding community. Since its release back in 2015, fans have created tons of fun mods for those still adventuring throughout the game's vast open-world, whether that's all-encompassing graphic overhauls or new outfits for its central cast of characters.

Many of these cosmetic mods extend past just character skins, with a lot of notable modding names crafting intricate new weaponry for Geralt to carry with him as he embarks upon monster-slaying adventures. Few feel as fitting as a new mod by Milckywayy on Nexus, however, with the modder implementing the Nichirin Blade from the immensely popular anime Demon Slayer (or Kimetsu no Yaiba in Japan).

For those unfamiliar with the anime, Nichirin Blades are special swords wielded by Demon Slayers in their pursuit to rid the world of their hellish foes. In the show's universe, the color of a warrior's blade is selected when they first wield it, with each color coming with a special ability or power. The sword offered in the mod is that of Demon Slayer's protagonist, Tanjiro, with the blade being pure black. The blade's color is seen as a bad omen, with those who wield black blades often dying too soon for the sword's true power to be discovered.

Bringing the notorious sword into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will allow fans to cross over two of their favorite modern fantasy worlds while allowing Geralt the powers the Nichirin Blade provides. As for details about how the modded weapon will work, players can purchase it from Hattori's home, Ofieri merchant, or the Grandmaster Smith in Toussaint. It'll allegedly scale to the player's progress through the game too, with the Milckywayy claiming that the sword's level and damage will be based upon where the player is in the game when they buy it. Those who want to channel Tanjiro's epic sword battles in The Witcher 3 can find the mod here.

As for other mods players can currently get their hands on, Nexus member Halk Hogan recently released a reworked visuals pack for The Witcher 3 that completely overhauls its design. It fixes a lot of the game's poor textures while also making it feel a little less lifeless, with the modder claiming the gaming was aging and they wanted to give it a modern facelift. It's evident there's some fun project circling around the game right now, so those looking for another reason to smash through the acclaimed RPG once more are in luck.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
