The new Witcher web-series has received plenty of praise from fans and has become very popular. The series has adapted the key aspects of the original books and the following games to satisfy old and new audiences. In fact, the programme has been so successful that it's gaming counterpart, The Witcher 3, has seen a record-breaking amount of players on Steam over four years after the game originally released.

The Witcher 3 was developed by CD Projekt Red, who began adapting the series back in 2007, and the last instalment found new levels of success. The fantasy-based RPG was lauded by many as the best game of the year and not long after that, one of the greatest titles of a generation.  With the web-series hitting screens, it seems that players have been returning to the title and interest has been sparked in players who missed the game when it released.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt saw a record player count of 93,385 on the 29th of December on Steam. This incredible achievement is undoubtedly because of the fresh attention brought to the game by the new web-series. However, the quality of The Witcher 3 and its expansive DLC's has given players a good reason to come back and play through the title once more. It will be interesting to see how long The Witcher 3 can hold on to these players, but either way, the achievement is impressive.

The Witcher 3 has plenty to be discovered, and many will likely find new areas and quests when they replay the game. Fortunately, none of the quests in the game are spoiled by the web-series as they are set at different points of time. Many fans will now hope that the web-series will follow the story of the Witcher up to the conclusion of The Witcher 3.

There are plenty of reasons to return to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, yet the games recent increase in players is undoubtedly due to the completely separate television series. There are also festive sales on the title which may have encouraged players to pick up the game. For whatever reason players are returning and finding The Witcher 3, it is sure to be an enjoyable experience for those who enjoy slaying monsters and making coin.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
