Recently, Windows 10 introduced a new update that caused some unexpected problems for gamers. The issue caused performance to suffer for certain users, much to their dismay.

Now, Microsoft has released a new update for Windows 10 that mitigates these problems. Specifically, gamers who utilize more than one monitor and typically prefer to use full screen or borderless windowed modes while playing were afflicted by the glitch, and should now be able to find relief.

The new update from Microsoft utilizes Known Issue Rollback to reverse the part of the patch that caused the glitch. The update is available now, though Microsoft noted that it may take up to twenty-four hours after the release of the Windows 10 update for it to reach all users. However, those who are tired of waiting may be able to speed up the update process by restarting their computers or manually checking for a new update through the Windows 10 settings.

While players are likely pleased at the fix arriving, any time that players are unable to take full advantage of their gaming systems can be maddening. The negative impact of the original update is something which may have hurt the company's reputation somewhat among gamers, especially given Microsoft's recent focus on Xbox Game Pass and the opportunity to play those games on Windows 10-equipped PCs.

That being said, Microsoft is rumored to be working on a Windows Store revamp that may help to make gaming a more approachable and enjoyable experience for PC players. While some PC gamers are likely stymied by the recent shortage of Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 cards, even issues like this Windows update glitch are unlikely to stop PC gamers from controlling nearly half the gaming market.
