Will Poulter will be playing Adam Warlock in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 3 movie which will feature many of the returning characters as well as introduce some new players as well. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will pick up right after the Guardians left Earth in Avengers Endgame.

Deadline reported that Will Poulter would be taking on the long-rumored role of Adam Warlock. Later in the day, James Gunn himself confirmed the news on Twitter, welcoming Poulter to the Guardians family. Poulter had also been cast in the upcoming $1 billion Lord of the Rings Amazon series before having to walk away from it due to "scheduling conflicts." This may have been due to his new role in the MCU.

Adam Warlock is a character from the Marvel comic books. Warlock is a cosmic being and artificially created human with many superpowers including flight, super strength, durability, energy manipulation, and superhuman speed to name a few. Each time the character dies in the comic books, he gets stronger, but there's no telling how this will play in the Guardians of the Galaxy or the Marvel continuity of the ongoing timeline.

Will Poulter has proven himself to be an accomplished performer with plenty of range, having appeared in comedy series and films like We're The Millers, as well as more dramatic roles in films like The Revenant, Detroit, and Midsommar. Poulter also appeared in the Black Mirror choose-your-own-adventure Netflix special Bandersnatch.

The film will revolve around the iconic Guardians of the Galaxy as they return for a final adventure. The film is also set to revolve around the sisters Gamora and Nebula. For those that don't remember, the current Gamora & Nebula are from different timelines. Gamora in the canonical universe was sacrificed by Thanos while Nebula survived after turning over a slightly new leaf. Gamora from the alternate timeline is from the past so she's less forgiving than the canonical one was and the Nebula of the alternate timeline was killed. So the sisters have this weird dynamic of seeing each other die and brought back to life without it being the actual versions.

The last two Avengers films have caused many ripple effects in the current MCU timeline. Fans are expecting many new challenges to occur for the current heroes due to Thanos' quest for erasing half the universe. With Thanos finally being defeated, many expect to see another villain take the place of the Mad Titan. Hopefully, this film and the upcoming Marvel's Eternals film will both display more of the cosmos as well as the universe as Marvel continues to move forward with the storytelling. Marvel always does a good job at expanding its universe so expect to see more of that with the upcoming movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will be released on May 5, 2023
