There have been many ingenious gaming fans who have turned random household items into working versions of selected consoles (with a keychain version of the Game Boy even available for purchase.) Now, it seems that the latest household object to receive this treatment is an Altoids tin.

In what seems to be one of the oddest creations ever made, student Aden Shank has turned an Altoids tin into a portable Wii system. Shank was able to convert the Altoids tin into a working version of the Wii by inserting the console’s circuitry into the tin. He later added controls, such as what appears to be analog sticks, on top of the tin, despite Wii remotes still being able to connect to the device.

Shank has called the creation illogical and entirely impractical, and has even named it “Kill Mii”. He has gone on further to describe the device as the worst portable version of the system. He did state that the project was seemingly worth it just for the memes (meaning that it is probably safe to assume that it probably won’t appear in stores any time soon.) It is also important to note that although the console does not work very well, it is not an emulator of any form and is still able to play all games designed for the Nintendo Wii.

While Shank has seemingly made it very clear that the device was created for nothing more than just a laugh, it is still amazing that someone was able to transform a household item, such as a tin in this case, into a working version of a popular home console. The device may not be able to perform all that well, but creativity is a facet highly-praised by the gaming community. If this Wii project is not meant for the market, hopefully, at the very least, Shank will get the memes he set out to create.
