The recent PlayStation Showcase was full of surprises, but easily one of the biggest was Insomniac’s announcement of its upcoming Wolverine game. Compound that with the fact that Insomniac also announced Spider-Man 2, and it’s clear that Insomniac is a genuine powerhouse for Sony. Now, very little is known about either game, but since Spider-Man is already established, Wolverine is the biggest question mark.

Since its announcement, fans have scoured the trailer looking for hints. It has a certain Old Man Logan vibe to it, there’s a reference to his debut comic that may or may not hint at a potential Hulk fight, and the lack of a release window suggests it is in early development. How early remains to be seen, but while figures like David Hayter throw their hat in the ring to voice Wolverine, Insomniac should take a look at Letterkenny’s Jared Keeso.

Letterkenny’s Jared Keeso for Wolverine in the MCU

To be clear, Letterkenny’s Jared Keeso should be more than Wolverine in a standalone game; there have been whole petitions to get Marvel to sign Jared Keeso to Wolverine for the MCU. Plenty of memes have been created, and there are thousands of fans who want this to be legit. It comes down to the fact that Jared Keeso’s take on Wayne could easily translate to Wolverine, voice, posture, attitude, and all.

Not to mention, Keeso himself and Wolverine have a lot in common. Both are Canadian, and while Wolverine in the comics has always been on the shorter side, movies have blurred that line. Keeso, at the least, fits into a realistic portrayal of his height. His physicality is on par with what fans want from Wolverine, and while he is most known for his role in comedy, Wolverine’s serious-yet-sometimes-comical nature would work well with the deadpan humor of Letterkenny’s Wayne.

It would also create some totally legitimate lines that could work with both characters, and add that homage to fans who have wanted this for so long. For example, Jared Keeso’s Wolverine could still call someone “spare parts” or modify one of his best lines to Darry and ask someone why they are so “awkward, Bub?” The episode where the debate over how many knuckles are on a hand could come into play, referencing both Letterkenny and Wolverine’s claws. Really, Letterkenny's Wayne and Wolverine seem to be two sides of the same coin in terms of style and tone.

But why should fans just settle for Wolverine in the MCU? Jared Keeso has the potential and deserves to be Wolverine in most, if not all mediums. Indeed, casting Keeso to be Wolverine in Insomniac’s game would give some early experience, and it could help set Wolverine’s tone for years to come. It may not be Keeso in person, fans would have to wait for that, but every iconic line, every single one from Wolverine even, would be awesome if delivered in Wayne’s voice.

Of course, there are a lot of variables. Marvel and Keeso have never commented on this, and it’s within the realm of possibility that Keeso isn’t interested (even if the greater MCU seems like a dream for some actors). His silence could swing the other way too, as there’s simply no telling here. However, while it would be wild to see the future of Wolverine defined by and beginning with a meme, wilder things have happened. The fact remains that Keeso would make for the perfect Wolverine actor in any medium in the eyes of many Letterkenny fans.

Wolverine is in development.
