Who Dies at the End of White Lotus Season 2?

HBO Max's drama-comedy series, The White Lotus, just streamed its season two finale, Arrivederci. From the first episode of the series, it's been known that there was going to be at least one death of the prominent cast members, but fans had no clue how it would go down. Now that the finale is over and the season has concluded, the identity of the dead body that Daphne discovered in the ocean has been revealed.

Who Dies at the End of The White Lotus Season 2?

After being invited by the friendly men to Palermo, Tanya soon realizes that not everything is going as she would have hoped. Quentin, the British man who leads the pack of the gay men, is seen in a photo with someone who looks just like Greg, Tanya's husband. The men take Tanya on Quentin's yacht to have a nice last dinner, and Tanya catches on that the group is trying to kill her so that her husband (and them) can get money from the prenuptial agreement (prenup). If Tanya and Greg were to get a divorce, Greg would get pretty much nothing from the relationship; however, if something were to happen to Tanya to cause an early death, Greg would take everything from her (and Tanya has no shortage of cash in her pocket).

While Tanya is on the yacht with the men, she desperately tries to find a way out of the situation, but with nowhere to go, she grabs Niccolo's black duffel bag and locks herself in the bedroom. She goes through the bag and finds a couple of objects typically used for kidnappings/murders, like rope and tape --but most importantly, Tanya finds a loaded gun.

Scared and shocked by the events happening in her life right now, she shoots the first man that busts into the room and then proceeds to stumble through the yacht, shooing anyone in her way. She ends up killing most of the men on the boat, except for one that jumps off the yacht and the captain.

Tanya then tries to jump off the yacht to reach a smaller getaway boat parked beside the yacht, but due to her general clumsiness (and the heels she refuses to take off), she slams into the water instead and drowns. Daphne ends up finding Tanya's body back at the hotel's shore the next morning. The police discover the yacht with the dead bodies, but we never know if Greg gets caught or is proven to be part of the kidnapping/death of Tanya.

As for Portia, Tanya's assistant, she goes to the airport to head back home and hears from Albie that one of the hotel guests drowned. Although he doesn't tell Portia who it was exactly, it leaves her wondering if it ended up being Tanya.

Is There Going to be a Season 3 of The White Lotus?

The White Lotus Season 3 has already been greenlit by HBO. In a special feature on the streaming service HBO Max, Mike White, the show's creator, mentioned that season 3 might be based somewhere in Asia and will focus on death, spirituality, and religion.
