The best show this side of Transylvania is finally making its return, and the quirky household of vampires is about to face its most diabolical enemy yet: online auctions. What We Do in the Shadows has just released a teaser for its upcoming 3rd season, ready to show the world just what happens when a group of supernatural beings needs to begin de-cluttering their house of excess evil trinkets.

In a rather abrupt change in tone from how the previous season of What We Do in the Shadows ended, the found family of blood (and energy) suckers has apparently decided not to address their human housemate Guillermo's new talent as a vampire hunter and instead looks to begin tidying up the place. What follows is a montage that rather perfectly showcases each character's personality as they all offer up personal possessions to be sold off in a nondescript online marketplace. Yep, definitely sounds like something coming from the same team currently working on an action-adventure comedy series.

The battle-hungry Nandor (Kayvan Novak) kicks things off by listing a "loose bone available for cheap" that's perfect for anybody's bone needs. Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), who seems to have a thing for mortal vessels that hold demonic entities, puts up an evil bucket (obviously) that's great for storing evil but NOT liquids. Eternal romantic Laszlo (played by Matt Berry, who spent last season gushing over Mark Hamill) proudly displays what he only describes as his sex rock. Then finally, the energy vampire Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) spends the What We Do in the Shadows trailer doing what he does best and annoying people as only a supernaturally gifted person can.

What We Do in the Shadows is a standalone spinoff of the 2014 film of the same name created by Jemaine Clement and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, and even though it's got an entirely different cast, it captured the spirit of the original flawlessly. In the format of a mockumentary that follows a household of vampires just trying to get by while living in Staten Island, it uses the juxtaposition of several supernatural beings living in the modern world to hilarious effect. It's difficult to completely describe in words, but just imagine if Twilight was a comedy.

The show has quickly gained a following thanks to the brilliant performances as well as the influence of both Clement and Waititi, both of whom serve as executive producers while occasionally directing an episode or 2. Perhaps the reason it's been so successful so far is that it not only serves as a Ghostbusters (2016) style spinoff of the 2014 film but also works as a continuation in that it expands on the lore (such as introducing Proksch's Colin Robinson as a new type of "energy" vampire who quite literally sucks the energy out of the room in lieu of the blood that other vampires prefer).

Luckily, fans won't have to wait much longer before their beloved group of Staten Island bloodsuckers makes their triumphant-ish return. With only a few months to go, that leaves plenty of time to binge the first 2 seasons, which will in turn perhaps suck out just enough energy to keep Colin going.

What We Do in the Shadows season 3 will premiere on September 2nd, 2021, on FX and will be available for streaming the following day via FX on Hulu.
