2K Sports releases a trailer for WWE 2K17 that reveals two versions of former WCW and WWE star Bill Goldberg as a pre-order bonus, along with two classic WCW arenas.

Monday Night RAW viewers last night were treated to the surprise reveal of WWE 2K17. Along with the announcement of the game and its October 2016 release month, the curtain was also pulled back on some pre-order bonuses for WWE 2K17 as well, headlined by none other than Bill Goldberg.

Goldberg, who hasn't worked with the WWE in an official capacity since his short stint from 2003 to 2004, will be available to anyone that pre-orders WWE 2K17, with two variations. Fans can choose between his classic WCW black tights with black boots look and the black and white trunks he wore during his WWE run.

Other pre-order bonuses for WWE 2K17 include two playable arenas from WCW. One arena will be based on WCW's flagship program, Monday Nitro, and the other will be based on the pay-per-view event Halloween Havoc. The decision to include an arena based on Halloween Havoc as opposed to a bigger WCW event like Starrcade has yet to be explained by 2K.

For the past few years, 2K Sports has included legendary wrestlers and characters as pre-order bonuses to entice fans to purchase WWE games early. For example, Sting was a pre-order bonus one year, and last year's WWE 2K16 had The Terminator as a pre-order bonus.

However, Goldberg's status as a pre-order bonus may be of more interest to professional wrestling fans than The Terminator's inclusion. As some may recall, after wrestlers like Sting and The Ultimate Warrior were added to WWE game rosters, they subsequently returned or debuted on WWE television not long after. By having Goldberg as a pre-order bonus for WWE 2K16, it could be an indication that he will be lacing up his boots once again for an in-ring return sometime soon.

Perhaps further evidence of this has been found by someone that reversed footage of the game's trailer. While Goldberg is being transported in the cop car at the end of the trailer, the reflection of a street sign can be seen on the window. With the footage reversed, it's easy to see that the sign says "Suplex City" - a reference to Goldberg's WrestleMania XX opponent Brock Lesnar. It could be that the answer to Goldberg's old question of "Who's next?" is Lesnar, though after the poor reception to the previous match between the two, it's more likely a tease for the game than anything else.

Having said that, Goldberg was featured in WWE 2K14 as well, and that wasn't followed up by his real-life return to WWE. Granted, Goldberg's role within WWE 2K14 was marginal compared to 2K17, so it's not quite the same situation, but even so, wrestling fans shouldn't count on a Goldberg return unless WWE itself makes the announcement.

WWE 2K17 will be available in October of this year, for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
