E3 2020 is now officially canceled due to safety concerns regarding the novel coronavirus. Publishers and developers are already beginning conversations about what comes next. One publisher, however, has only entered the conversation with E3 2020 ending. A new report claims that Warner Bros. Games had planned to do its first E3 press conference this year, though those plans are now ended. The press conference is said to have featured several major games, including WB Montreal's unannounced Batman title.

The report comes from Kotaku's Jason Schreier, who decided to share the leaked information on Twitter. Schreier claims that Warner Bros. was going to go all out for its press conference. Games to be featured included the new Batman game, a new Harry Potter game, as well as Rocksteady Studios' unannounced game.

WB Montreal's in-development Batman game has long been rumored as soon-to-be-announced. Rumors go back well into 2019, with a potential reveal during The Game Awards 2019 being the most substantial. Since then, WB Montreal has continued to tease its Batman-related game, revealing icons assumed to be for the game's internal factions. Yet no announcement has yet been made.

There are plenty of rumors about what the Batman game may be about. For example, one of the biggest rumors about the new game is that it's not related to the Batman Arkham series. Instead, the new game will be a part of a new DC Comics universe of games. The new Rocksteady game is also rumored to be a part of it. Other rumors include the name Batman Legacy and a story tied to the villainous Court of Owls.

None of the rumors are reliable at this point. WB Montreal's Batman game has been reinvented several times over the past years and could easily have been reinvented since the last wave of rumors.

If Schreier's report is true, which given his reliable reporting in the past is very likely, WB would be likely to follow the other publishers' lead. That is, WB is likely evaluating how it can transform its planned E3 2020 keynote into an online presentation. Schreier notes that he hasn't heard confirmation of this, though.

WB clearly has big plans for 2020. It will be sure to share information about those plans one way or another.

WB Montreal's Batman game is unannounced and has no confirmed platforms.
