What is Watch Dogs Legion All About?

Watch Dogs Legion is set in post-Brexit London and focuses on the hacker group DedSec, who is on a mission to liberate the city for its Big Brother dystopian system by recruiting various allies to help with the cause. During the game's announcement, one of the features that Ubisoft highlighted is the ability to swap and play as any NPC in the game at any time. According to Ubisoft, the studio has to record twenty versions of the game's script in order to give life to the various characters players can recruit in the game.

Moreover, Watch Dogs Legion will also feature a permadeath mode, which means that if a character is arrested or hospitalized, there is a high chance that this character will be lost forever. Of course, for those who are not so keen on this challenging mode, Watch Dogs Legion will also have a normal mode where NPCs can still return to the roster and will only be unavailable for a limited time when arrested or hospitalized.

Apart from the unique NPC mechanic, Watch Dogs Legion will also support cross-play and cross-saves thanks to the new Ubisoft Connect App. This new app will be available for free, but players must have a Ubisoft account to use it. Additionally, the studio revealed that the purpose of the Ubisoft Connect app is to give "the best environment for all players to enjoy their games and connect with each other whatever the device."

Watch Dogs Legion will also feature several multiplayer modes, which will include a PvP spiderbot battle. The game will also allow players to choose from three character classes, and once a new NPC has been recruited to the player's team, they can also assign them to any of the following:

  • Enforcer - is the combat-heavy class that is the best choice for those characters who are good with weapons. This class is also best-suited for missions where the stealth approach may not be the best course of action.
  • Hacker - as the name clearly suggests, this class operate on the background and utilizes technology rather than combat
  • Infiltrator - this class is the complete opposite of the infiltrator and favors a stealthier approach when doing missions and side quests

Watch Dogs Legion will launch October 29 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. The game will launch with the Xbox Series X on November 10, and the PS5 on November 24.
