A new mod for Watch Dogs Legion appears to give players complete control over not only different playable characters, but the entire city of London. This fan-made update even has the seal of approval from Ubisoft, allowing players to step out of taking control of recruited DedSec operatives and start turning the city into a sandbox for unique scenes and encounters.

This mod comes from NOMAD Group, modders that work on making toolkits and opening up customization and multiplayer options for AAA titles. The group's most prominent type of mod, the ScriptHook, is what is now coming to Watch Dogs Legion on April 14 to give players new levels of customization over the open world of London.

Players using the Watch Dogs Legion ScriptHook can change dozens of different elements across the city, from the weather to time of day, all the way down to the amount of traffic on the streets. Combined with Watch Dogs Legion's in-game photo modes and a newly unlocked camera, fans have access to a number of new cinematic options for capturing the perfect picture of their operative. That's not even to mention how much further the mod goes in letting the player warp into any location, including story missions that had previously been off-limits like those inside of Big Ben.

On top of being able to change some of the simpler visuals around the world, players can also spawn in objects, including vehicles, set decorations, and dozens of enemies. NOMAD Group shows this off in the recent trailer for the ScriptHook mod by having a player character running from a horde of CT Drones, some of the most dangerous flying enemies in the game. All of these different components give players a whole new way to look at jumping into the streets of Watch Dogs Legion's London, and finding new ways to tool around with Ubisoft's creation.

It isn't very often that a project like ScriptHook is made in association with the developer of the game. There are a select few developers that will sometimes host fan-made mods, or integrate them into a marketplace, but they rarely act like this for any kind of creation tool on such a broad level. That being said, this could be a big step forward with Ubisoft correcting some of Watch Dogs Legion's biggest weaknesses by opening the floodgates for player freedom.

Watch Dogs Legion is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
