The Lunar New Year, perhaps the largest holiday in China and other parts of Asia, is not a commonly celebrated event in the west. Some games, largely MMOs and live service titles, do hold in-game events or offer Lunar New Year content, but it's rare to see single-player games do so. That's why it's a fun surprise to find that Ubisoft has released some Lunar New Year content for Watch Dogs Legion. It's nothing substantial, but Watch Dogs Legion players celebrating the holiday may appreciate it.

Available between now and February 25, Ubisoft is making available a variety of free Lunar New Year skins in Watch Dogs Legion. There are t-shirts, jackets, a crop-top, and even a dragon mask. All of it is colored red and gold, befitting the holiday. And there's even some reference to the Year of the Ox on at least one item. It isn't playable content or anything like that, but it will let those celebrating the Lunar New Year take their celebration with them into the dystopian mayhem of Watch Dogs Legion.

The skins are being made available solely through Ubisoft Connect, the meta shop that's accessible through all modern Ubisoft games. As such, they should be accessible to Watch Dogs Legion's players regardless of which platform the game is being played on. Ubisoft also says the skins are entirely free. No Ubisoft Connect currency should be required.

Again, in terms of in-game holiday celebrations it leaves a lot to be desired. But any new content added to a game requires a decent amount of effort, which shows that Ubisoft went out of its way to show at least some love to those celebrating Lunar New Year.

Watch Dogs Legion is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
