Watch Dogs Legion is coming closer to its November release, with players not needing to wait much longer to experience the game’s “play as everyone” mechanic. Despite the feature being the main draw of the game, players will be able to play a version of the story tailored to fit original protagonist Aiden Pearce thanks to one of the DLC’s for Watch Dogs Legion.

Announced back in September, it seems that the addition of Aiden Pearce to Watch Dogs Legion is one that the game’s developers are putting some extra thought into. According to Legion producer Lathieeshe Thillainathan, the game’s team is “writing the whole story again with Aiden’s personality.” The producer went on to state that this means “Aiden will be integrated into all original cinematics” to help acknowledge the character’s personality and history.

This impressive bit of detail from Ubisoft will no doubt take plenty of work, though it should make Aiden’s addition feel special. Being able to play as an assassin from Assassin’s Creed in Watch Dogs Legion due to another piece of DLC is undoubtedly cool, but Aiden is sure to be one of the most popular additions to the game for players that have been waiting for his story to continue. Thillainathan went on to mention that he “can’t wait to see everyone’s version of Aiden and Wrench.”

Wrench, the most popular character from Watch Dogs 2’s supporting cast, will be making a big return in the character-filled season pass for Legion. As it turns out, both the funny mask-wearing vigilante and the serious Aiden Pearce will be fully customizable within Watch Dogs Legion. This is another smart touch by Ubisoft to make the characters feel like true additions to the story as opposed to tacked-on DLC.

While Ubisoft is busy dealing with, ironically, hackers threatening to release Legion’s source code, it is nice to see continued updates for fans regarding the game and the plans for its future post-launch. With confirmation that Aiden will work online and “have a dedicated DLC” to go with his inclusion to the main story, Watch Dogs fans have a good idea of how the protagonist will be incorporated into the game. Fully customizable and with a rewritten story to fit his character, the addition of Aiden should be well-received by fans of the series.

It will be interesting to see if more fans take to playing as Aiden or Wrench, who comes with his own special abilities. Regardless, it is nice to see the fan-favorite characters coming to Legion and making it feel more connected to the previous Watch Dogs games.

Watch Dogs Legion releases October 29 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S support to follow.
