Wasteland 3 is set to be a huge title, according to the head of Wasteland 3 developer inXile Entertainment.

Some light has been shed on Wasteland 3, with its x019 trailer demonstrating the game's combat and environments. Yet, there are still numerous unknowns about the game, including the game's scope.

GM of Xbox Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg sent out a tweet Thursday mentioning a call he had with InXile Entertainment's Studio Head, Brian Fargo. In the call, Fargo showed optimism about the game said Wasteland 3 is unexpectedly "epic in size."

It is possible that this will come as a surprise to some. With a relatively small file size, Wasteland 2 couldn't necessarily be described as "epic," but inXile Entertainment has billed the game to Greenberg as one that outsizes the previous entry.

It is unclear if the huge scope will translate to a larger file size, which has become an issue in recent times. Infinity Ward and Activision have faced criticism for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's huge file size, for instance. Although it's highly doubtful that Wasteland 3 will reach the size of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's file size, scale has an impact nonetheless on file size.

With just two weeks to go until Wasteland 3's release, the game is set to be a highlight release for August. The game follows 2014's Wasteland 2, which was praised for its satisfying combat and as a sort of comeback for old-school RPGs in the style of the classic Fallout games. Meanwhile, Wasteland 3 aims to streamline combat and tell a strong narrative as a suitable follow-up to Wasteland 2.

Wasteland 3 launches August 28, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
