As players make their way through the post-apocalyptic world of Wasteland 3, they will be able to use skill points to specialize their party members in a variety of ways. Indeed, allocating these skill points thoughtfully is key in this new RPG, and improperly specialized characters can cause some real problems down the line. This something that many Wasteland 3 players will assuredly experience firsthand, and some of these fans may wonder if it is possible to correct course by way of character respecs.

To get right to it, there is no way to perform a traditional character respec in Wasteland 3, which means that once skill points have been spent there is simply no going back. While this is certainly not extremely unusual, and indeed some of the most-popular RPGs of all time do not allow for respecs, it does mean that characters can be put into an irreparable state in Wasteland 3. That said, players need not fret too much if they are unhappy with some of their squad members, as there is a way to work around the absence of skill resets.

More specifically, fans can create and recruit new characters by speaking with Sergi Greatski at Ranger HQ, and this gives players the ability to simply replace squad members in Wasteland 3 as needed. For those fans that grow attached to their characters this may not be seen as an ideal solution, but it should at least help prevent situations where progress is halted entirely due to less-than-ideal specialization.

To note, it is very likely that PC players will eventually gain access to community-made mods that allow for skill resets in Wasteland 3, though none are available at the time of writing. Of course, those mods would not be of much help to fans that are playing Wasteland 3 on consoles, and unless developer inXile Entertainment adds the ability to respec characters in a future patch these players will need to rely on Greatski to fix any undesirable party members.

It is also possible that players will ultimately discover a way to reset skills through save file editing, though a working method is not currently known and again it would only be particularly useful to those with the PC version of the game. As such, fans, particularly those playing on PS4 or Xbox One, should try not to get too invested in their party members as they are learning the ins and outs of the title's skill system, as they may eventually need to be supplanted by Wasteland 3 characters with better specs.

Wasteland 3 is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
