Nintendo's Mario Kart series popularized the kart racing subgenre of racing games, inspiring countless copycats over the years. Oftentimes these kart racers are based on established IP as the main hook to draw people in, and so is the case with the upcoming Warped Kart Racers, a brand new kart racing game that's releasing this month for Apple Arcade.

The Apple Arcade subscription service for iOS devices will soon have Warped Kart Racers as part of its lineup, a bizarre kart racer that features characters from various adult cartoons. The game will include 20 playable characters at launch, with the likes of Peter Griffin from Family Guy, Stan Smith from American Dad, Hank Hill from King of the Hill, and more included. Characters from the more recent animated show Solar Opposites will also be featured on the roster.

Not only will Warped Kart Racers have characters from these popular shows on the roster, but it will also feature 16 tracks based on the shows as well. This includes tracks based on Arlen, Texas from King of the Hill and Quahog from Family Guy.

With Warped Kart Racers being a mobile racing game, some may be quick to immediately dismiss it, but it actually looks like it will be a full experience. It includes regular races as well as Mario Kart-style battles, a single player campaign, 8-player multiplayer matches, daily challenges, a suite of customization options, and more. As far as licensed kart racers go, it definitely seems like it has potential to be one of the better ones on the market.

Of course, it's highly unlikely that this will be able to stand toe to toe with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the premiere kart racer on the market, but it should still be something amusing for Apple Arcade subscribers to try. It's unclear if an Android version or console port will ever happen, but perhaps that could be a possibility down the line if the Apple Arcade release proves popular enough.

As far as the shows go, Family Guy, Solar Opposites, and American Dad all still release new episodes. King of the Hill ended its initial run many years ago, but a King of the Hill reboot is reportedly in the works that will feature older versions of the characters. It will be interesting to see how that turns out, and while they wait for more information, King of the Hill fans may want to check out Warped Kart Racers to help pass the time.
