Mario Kart has inspired all kinds of copycats, though one of the most bizarre is easily Warped Kart Racers. Warped Kart Racers, for the uninitiated, is a newly revealed Mario Kart clone releasing on Apple Arcade this month based on Fox's adult animated sitcoms. Family Guy, King of the Hill, and more are represented, with the roster featuring fan favorite characters from the shows along with appropriate vehicles and tracks.

Warped Kart Racers is launching with 20 characters in total, spread out across all four shows that are represented in the game. The entire Griffin family from Family Guy is included, minus Chris. The entire family from American Dad is part of the roster, as is the Hill family from King of the Hill, with Hank's friend and neighbor Dale Gribble thrown into the mix for good measure. Solar Opposites, meanwhile, features the entire main alien cast, though no one from the Wall side story.

It's unclear why these specific shows were chosen for Warped Kart Racers, and it will be interesting to see if the game is ever expanded on in future to include other Fox animated properties. An obvious choice would be The Simpsons, but sci-fi comedy Futurama and Bob's Burgers seem like they would make good additions to the game as well. As it stands, no plans to extend the Warped Kart Racers roster have been announced at the time of this writing.

No plans to bring Warped Kart Racers to other platforms have been announced either, which may disappoint some fans of these shows who were hoping to play the game on their platform of choice. At launch, Warped Kart Racers is going to be available to play on iOS devices through Apple Arcade. It stands to reason that the game could eventually come to other platforms at some point, with an Android version likely to show up eventually. A console version may be less likely, but it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

If Warped Kart Racers proves popular enough, it will be interesting to see if it's expanded on in future updates. There's obvious potential to bring it to more platforms and flesh out its character roster, but it remains to be seen if that's in the cards. For now, iOS users can look forward to playing the game through Apple Arcade.
