Warner Brothers Games could be working on a new free-to-play game. A bevy of new job listings has just been posted on the company's site, and many of them indicate a free-to-play focus. Warner Brothers has been busy lately, with things like finally officially patenting the Nemesis System from the Middle-earth games, and this newest find could lead to something big for gamers.

For the most part, WB titles are single-player experiences, which is great for a lot of gamers. There are exceptions, of course, with fighting games like Injustice or Mortal Kombat help mixing things up. But the library is starting to look a bit more diverse. As far as what is on the way for WB, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Hogwarts Legacy are set to release in 2022. Meanwhile, Back 4 Blood (a multiplayer co-op game) and Gotham Knights are still on track for 2021. But a free-to-play, cross-platform, triple-A video game would also be a nice addition to that catalog, and apparently, that's what WB is working on

Ten job postings appeared on Warner Brothers' career website on February 11th alone. Most of the postings are that of senior, lead, or manager level positions, indicating that the game and roles are very much new. Of the positions, a few of them specifically mention the idea of the new game being a free-to-play title. The Game Systems Designer role is specifically created to "design and tune game systems and economies AAA, free-to-play, cross-platform game." The Product Manager role is another position that mentions free-to-play in the job description, and it is a requirement of the role to be able to have experience with free-to-play games, know how to monetize them, understand trends, and more.

While not all of the jobs mention free-to-play elements, it is fair to assume that most of the postings are attached to this new game. The free-to-play element was not the only thing that was important, but the cross-platform aspect was as well. Lately, those features are a part of multiplayer games such as battle royales, shooters, and shared-world experiences. The best free-to-play and cross-platform games keep players coming back with ongoing content and experiences, and WB is assuredly hoping to put together a team that can do just that.

WB has been a very successful studio over the past few decades. In fact, right off of the heels of the huge Bethesda purchase, there have been rumors that Microsoft would like to acquire Warner Brothers Games as well, and for good reason. The team has created a lot of memorable experiences, and by the looks of it, there are more interesting games on the way as well.
