Gotham Knights has a lot of attention and pedigree, and is tentatively scheduled for a 2022 release. It is a third-person titles that takes cues from experience on the Arkham series, and is focused on the various members of the Bat Family after the death of Bruce Wayne. Even before release, this title has some fans hoping a spotlight could be given to some of DC's other heroes. A few new job listings on the WB Games Montreal's website have been posted, with indications of what their next project will be after Gotham Knights.

With many superhero titles taking off and even Marvel's Spider-Man using design cues from the Arkham series, it's no surprise that fans want some of the same love given to other DC heroes. In the last couple of years, DC licensed games have been focused on Batman, with the notable exception of the Injustice series by NetherRealm Studios. These job listings from WB Montreal indicate another big budget AAA game is on the way.

One of these listings is for a 3C Game Designer to help develop a third-person, open-world action game. This position includes aspects such as the in-game camera, menu navigation, and the feedback the player receives when playing. However, it is not the only position that has gone up on the site, as there is an additional listing for a Senior Gameplay/Animation Programmer. This listing says the position would be responsible for a AAA title in a "new IP." Since WB Montreal's output have been solely for DC titles thus far, including its work for Batman: Arkham Knight, it can be speculated that a new DC Comics IP from the studio may be in development.

This has led fans to speculate what the next title will be after Gotham Knights. Many are hoping that the next IP could focus on DC Comics' other big name, Superman. Fans of the Man of Steel have pointed out there hasn't been a proper title squarely focused on him in some time. The idea of an ambitious third-person AAA title starring the last son of Krypton is enticing, and would help fans to forget some of the more embarrassing titles of his past, such as the infamous Superman 64.

With WB Montreal taking on both Gotham Knights and this unannounced project, fans have a lot they can look forward to. Even if the game WB Montreal is developing ends up being for a different superhero IP or something original, fans can still see Superman in a variety of other games. One of these includes Rocksteady Studio's upcoming Suicide Squad game, where Superman is mind-controlled by the villainous Brainiac, set in a continuation of the Arkhamverse. It's only a matter of time, but once Gotham Knights is completed, it's possible WB Montreal will lift the curtain on what this next project holds.

Gotham Knights will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.
