Warhammer Vermintide 2 is filled with missions for players to take on and loot to acquire, having benefited from several years of free and paid DLC content on top of its original set of missions. One way the game further extends its replayability is through Heroic Deeds, special mission variants that must be acquired as items before they can be played.

Getting Heroic Deeds in Warhammer Vermintide 2 is a fantastic way to earn additional rewards and breathe some fresh life into old missions via additional challenges and modifiers. However, acquiring them is unfortunately left mostly to luck. Here's how players can take on that challenge.

How to Get Heroic Deeds

Acquiring Heroic Deeds requires players to get ahold of lots of loot chests since they are randomly acquired when opening a loot chest back in the Hub. Since loot chests are acquired upon completing missions, and finding a Heroic Deed in one is entirely down to luck, players might need to complete several missions before uncovering a Heroic Deed in a loot chest. Indeed, the odds of a loot chest containing one is about 5%, which means players could very well be searching for a long time.

While players could probably just play the game as normal and take them as they come, players wanting to acquire them quickly should probably find some short and easy missions they can run through quickly, and keep repeating runs until they get lucky. Running through missions quickly on Recruit Difficulty is a fairly straightforward way to acquire Deeds.

What to Expect from Heroic Deed Missions

Heroic Deeds come in three qualities: Green, Blue, and Orange. The higher the quality, the more modifiers come attached to them, with orange deeds having three modifiers. These modifiers can greatly alter various aspects of the level, making the mission harder in a variety of ways. Heroic Deeds are also locked to a specific difficulty, which is determined randomly when the deed is created.

Here's a list of all the possible modifiers players could encounter when handling Heroic Deed Missions:

  • Abduction: Players do not respawn when put out of action.
  • Back to Basics: Hero Power is limited to starting value and all Talents, Properties, and Traits are removed from the players.
  • Deprivation: No Pickups will appear in the level.
  • Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger: Elite Enemies have double health and deal double damage.
  • Nurgle's Rot: Players take damage over time throughout the mission.
  • Seek and Destroy: Special Enemies spawn more frequently and in greater numbers.
  • Send in the next Wave!: Increased frequency of Horde spawning.
  • Sudden Death: Getting Knocked down will instantly kill the player.
  • The Vanguard: All roaming enemies are replaced with more powerful foes.

Warhammer Vermintide 2 is available for PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
