Warhammer 40K: Darktide revealed its latest trailer, which shows off the Zealot archetype and the Preacher class. Warhammer 40K: Darktide is the latest horde-based action game from Fatshark, the developer behind the critically acclaimed Vermintide games. While developer Fatshark's previous work has been based primarily in the fantasy universe of Warhammer, Darktide takes players to the grim dark far future where they find themselves in a Hive City infested by Warhammer 40K's Chaos god Nurgle.

While Darktide was initially set to release last year, Fatshark has delayed the day one Xbox Game Pass release multiple times, with the latest push setting the launch from September 13 to November 30, 2022. Still, with Darktide's release looming, plenty of content has been shared about the game, including new trailers, gameplay reveals, and more to show off what players can expect to see when the game finally launches. Some of the latest footage released for Darktide was a Gamescom 2022 trailer, which combined gameplay elements with the game's story and set up how the player characters end up in their situation.

Now, Fatshark has unveiled a new trailer for Darktide, showing a closer look at the Zealot archetype and its Preacher class. The Zealot is one of four archetypes that players can choose from when they make a character in Darktide. Joining the Ogryn, the Veteran, and the Psyker, the Zealot is dedicated wholly to the Emperor, who acts as a major holy figure in Warhammer 40K lore. Each archetype in Darktide has its own class, which further refines the playstyle with a unique range of skills and abilities. As mentioned, for the Zealot, their class is the Preacher.

The Preacher comes with a passive increase to melee attack speed, as well as a loadout that complements this more aggressive style of play, as they are equipped with a combat axe and autopistol. Darktide's Preachers will likely act as a frontline DPS type of character for their party, giving the ranged archetypes plenty of space. However, it seems that from a lore perspective the Preacher may not enjoy being in a party, as Fatshark states that both the Ogryn and Psyker archetypes are likely to get a tongue lashing from the Preacher in some of Darktide's many unique voice lines.

While the Preacher certainly seems a logical step for the Zealot archetype, some fans might be concerned by the fact that it seems there will only be one class per archetype at launch. Vermintide 2's classes let players choose from three different options, each with unique skills and passive abilities. For those who want customization though, Darktide seems to be full of it, as the game will allow players to create their own unique character rather than making them pick from pre-established adventurers.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide releases on November 30, 2022, for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
