Nobody has to make tougher feat decisions in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide than the Ogryn. The Ogryn is capable of single-target boss fights, ranged area damage, tanking, and utility. How do players choose to focus on any one part of this diverse gameplay?

To be what the group needs, gamers need to get the best feats that Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has to offer. Better weapons and gear will help, certainly, but they can't replace the ways that feats can fundamentally change the game for the character.

Updated on October 9th, 2023 by Hodey Johns: The Ogryn, along with all the other operatives, has received a significant overhaul with Path #13. Additionally, many changes to gameplay, combat, and leveling have been implemented, altering the landscape and value of various weapons and abilities. The greatest adjustment has been the talent system over the old feats. Ranking talents is a tough thing to do since different builds will have different priorities. Choosing the "best" talents might make for an incoherent character since some of the talents synergize well together. Still, it's not a bad idea to see which talents seem to be having the greatest success and make the Ogryn popular in a given party.

Best Ability Talent

The ability chosen can make the Ogryn one of the better operatives in the game. Indomitable deserves special consideration since it's one of the few ways that the Ogryn can gain tremendous mobility and positioning. This goes through most enemies and makes the Pgryn stronger after the charge ends.

For ranged operatives, Point-Blank Barrage will give the OPgryn an improved rate of fire and reload speed which can make a very slow weapon quite lethal. Thick Skin is best for pure tank Ogryn builds so it's wise to pick this up in conjunction with other talents that focus on this particular aspect.

Best Blitz Talent

All of the options here have to do with the type of ranged projectile used. Big Friendly Rock is the single target specialty and can be stacked four times. However, its usefulness against these single types excludes Carapace Armoured and Unyielding enemies. This means it's often better to use one of the best ranged weapons than an Ogryn Blitz ability.

The choice between Bombs Away! and Frag Bomb is tight. The Frag Bomb has a larger radius so it's better against very large groups. But Bombs Away! has both single-target usefulness and the ability will deal damage to targets around the enemy who got hit.

Best Aura Talent

When using one of the game's best melee weapons, Bonebreaker's Aura can potentially be great, just be sure to let allies know to use heavy melee attacks instead of regular ones. Coward Culling is also better with proper communication as allies get the most out of it when firing on the same target.

For many builds, Stay Close! will be the best bet since the Ogryn and the squad get more tankiness when together. The extra toughness replenishment will make runs much smoother as the Ogryn should have plenty of health by the end of the level instead of running out.

Best Keystone Talent

Feel No Pain singlehandedly makes the Ogryn the best tank in the game. This operative will be on the tough side with about any build but this talent is over the top. Damage-focused builds can choose the other options but tanky Ogryns shouldn't consider anything except for Feel No Pain.

Heavy Hitter stacks nicely with other melee weapon talents and can get outrageous when all five stacks are up and running. For those who have a weapon with great traits and want to get more firepower, Burst Limiter Override will occasionally add some ammo back to a given weapon.
