A handful of months after its release on PC, Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector will be coming to Playstation 4 and Xbox One at the end of the year. This turn-based strategy game has seen success thus far on PC and will be released December 2, 2021 and will available the same day for subscribers of Xbox Game Pass.

Developed by Black Lab Games, Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector brings players back to the war torn universe of Warhammer 40,000 through combat between the Blood Angels and the Tyranids. It originally launched on July 22, 2021 on PC and had planned a console version since then, according to its content roadmap.

This fast-paced turn-based strategy game will appear mostly intact in its new form but the publisher, Slitherine, does note that the asynchronous multiplayer system won’t feature in the new console version. Slitherine does comment that it believes the live multiplayer matches and the inclusion of hot-seat multiplayer, “more than makes up for it.” The first DLCs for the game were also announced and will be released the same day as the console version of the game. For fans of Warhammer 40,000's Tyranids there is the Tyranid Elites Pack through which players get access to the Broodlord and Hive Guard. For those who wish to add to their Space Marine forces there is the Blood Angels Elites Pack which adds the Assault Terminators and Sanguinary Guard.

While players wait for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to release, this announcement comes at a great time. This edition is a welcome one for those who were looking for a Warhammer 40,000 game on consoles. Because Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector has been well-received thus far, it will likely be one of the better games in the franchise to make this transition.

Bringing a PC game to console can be a challenge but Slitherine mention that it feels that it has "maintained the visual fidelity and gameplay pace of the PC version." It hasn't cracked the list of the best Warhammer 40,000 games as of yet but, as long as that statement proves to be true, then Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector on console should be a success.

Then again, porting games can be result in a weaker offering on a console. A lot of what makes the game successful needs to be recreated well in order to guarantee its success on console. Either way, though, there will be at least one Warhammer 40,000 game console players can play since the delay of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is available now on PC and will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and starting December 2, 2021.
