Warframe and its Saint of Altra update will be showering players in new content over the coming weeks, starting later this week when the update releases for PC. To add to the excitement, as sizeable as the upcoming Saint of Altra is, the many changes and additions that it brings will also prepare Warframe for even more significant updates in the future.

Developer Digital Extremes continues to keep Warframe fresh amid the many battle-mech third-person shooter games, and the Saint of Altra update will add its 41st warframe to date: Gauss. In addition, Warframe's Disruption Mode--the game type that has players defend a location from enemies--will be expanding for players to enjoy in new areas.

Gauss is "the ultimate speedster," using a unique gauge that no other class shares; keeping him in constant movement will build up the electricity and subsequently charge his Speed Gauge, feeding his battle abilities. Besides being able to use the supersonic Mach Rush (a hyper-sprint which charges Gauss while blowing enemies to the ground), the new warframe can generate kinetic plating and electrocute enemies en masse. Basically, as long as he's moving, Gauss has a host of offensive and defensive abilities to choose from while dealing progressively more damage as he goes. Players can scrape together the in-game materials to build Gauss for free, or just buy him in the marketplace if they're in a hurry.

Next up is the Disruption expansions, which give players a wider variety of nodes to choose from with new planets, mission types, and factions. A story will be implemented to pair with the expansions, detailing the player's mission to thwart evil Corpus scientist Alad V. Disruption missions will pop up in all sorts of places, including Corpus Outpost, Grineer Galleon, Grineer Settlement, Grineer Kuva Fortress, and Orokin Moon. However, players will need to complete The Sacrifice quest to get Kuva Fortress and Lua.

Beyond that, Saint of Altra comes with a bunch of other interesting odds and ends, starting with new equipment--including signature armor and weapons for Gauss--that players can buy or craft. A Shawzin Hero emote will allow players to compose and play their own songs, and just generally be the bard they've always dreamed of being.

Players who try to keep up a fashionable build will be thrilled to see that the update brings new skins and collectibles for use in their designs. Those designs can then be shared with the Warframe community and imported for use by other players via in-game chat, with the Look Link and Mod Link features. Finally, a new set of Dojo decorations is Infested-themed, and the limit of Riven Mods will increase from 90 to 120.

All in all, Saint of Altra has plenty of new features for players to get hyped about--and with the promise of future content building on the foundation provided by this update, there's still a lot to look forward to.

Warframe can be downloaded now for PC and consoles. The Saint of Altra update will arrive later this week for PC, and sometime "soon" for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.
