While Warframe can be a deceptively repetitive game, developer Digital Extremes has certainly made it a point to keep things afresh with new abilities, characters, and general content. This time, they've come up with Operation Orphix Venom. With Operation Orphix, players will be able to engage in completely new environments and face difficult enemies, experiencing new battles that will test their limits.

This new content also marks the dedication with which Digital Extremes has been pursuing perfection with Warframe, adding millions of players every year to the already huge roster boasted by the free-to-play multiplayer action RPG. Operation Orphix emphasizes the importance of the Necramech system, something that the developers have been pushing for a long time. Not only do they add to the lore of the game, but also allow players to become a part of the history of Warframe's universe.

Why Are The Orphix Dangerous?

The Orphix represents a race of Sentient serpents that have managed to sever a Tenno's link to their Warframe. The Warframes are the only opposition strong enough to destroy these Sentient serpents and if their connection to the Tenno no longer exists, they would be powerless to stop the Orphix.

The only way to destroy the Orphix is to trample them with the power of the Necramech. These Necramech were used before the existence of Warframes to kill large waves of enemies, and they have the capability to go around the disabling field that Warframes are susceptible to.

How To Start Operation Orphix?

Before starting Operation Orphix, players need to complete two other missions. These are The War Within and Heart of Deimos. Once these quests are completed, they can go to their lander and there should be an icon to start Operation Orphix. This mission has three different tiers: Regular, Advanced, and Endurance.

If players start with regular difficulty, they probably wouldn't even need their own Necramech - any unmodded Necramech that players find in the map will work. However, these Necramech's can barely hold their own in the Advanced level and are less than useless in the Endurance tier. So, if players plan to go through the higher tiers, they should have powerful Necramechs at their disposal.

Killing Orphix

Killing an Orphix isn't all that difficult. It does require a bit of patience though. Players will have to face waves of the Orphix and kill them after they spawn. After killing each Orphix, the players are rewarded with Phasic Cells. These Phasic Cells can be exchanged with Father for obtaining a powerful Warframe called Lavos.

Players have to acquire a Necramech when facing an Orphix and go to the area where an Orphix has spawned.

The Orphix, in a bid to outnumber the player, will summon Resonators that need to be killed as well. After the Resonators are killed, the Orphix becomes vulnerable and shows its weak spot right at the center of the frame. Shoot the weak spot until the Orphix is destroyed. An Orphix may summon more than Resonators more than once to save itself. Players have to be vigilant regarding this and repeat the steps until the Orphix is killed.

There's a "Sentient Control" percentage that will be shown on the screen as well. After this reaches 100 percent, players will not be able to kill any more Orphix. This does not indicate failure in the mission, but players will not be reaping any further rewards from this particular wave.

Rewards

If players hadn't thought of building up or modding their own Necramech before, then Operation Orphix is the perfect quest for them to try and understand the nuances of their Necramech. Speak to Father to get rare choices in Necramech mods that can be utilized in other runs of Operation Orphix, at various tiers such as Advanced and Endurance. Players can then modify their Necramech based on their Operation Orphix runs.

In addition to this, there's a good chance that the Phasic Cells gained from killing Orphix can be exchanged with Father for blueprints for Lavos and the Warframe's preferred weapon, a Cedo shotgun. Other weapon blueprints can also be gathered, like the Basmu and Cetic Lacera blueprints.

Players can also obtain other items such as an emblem, after achieving a score of 500 on the regular tier. There are also aesthetic collectibles to gain, such as the Ayatan Hemakara Sculpture that comes with 1000 points at the Advanced tier. The Mausolon Supulchrax skin is available after players reach the score of 2000 on the Endurance tier.

Modding The Necramech

While the regular and Advanced tiers can still be completed by players after picking up random Necramechs from different parts of the map, if they truly want to complete Operation Orphix, the real challenge lies in the Endurance tier. The Endurance difficulty is by far the toughest to handle in Operation Orphix, as Sentient serpents attack the player at a relentless onslaught. This is what makes completing the stage so difficult, as players will have to kill 36 Orphix to master the mission.

The Voidrig isn't all that bad in approaching Endurance tier - its Storm Shroud ability is fair enough and can protect the player from the barrage of the Orphix. Bonewidow is another option, but the Shield Maiden mod isn't great in this situation as it can only protect the player from a certain angle and distance. The Sentient will keep attacking the player without any remorse, and they will have to be more careful with Bonewidow.

The endurance tier implies that players will have to manage high armor and health at all times, so mods such as Necramech Vitality and Steel Fiber are good starting points. Necramech Continuity, Streamline, Flow are all very important to power the Storm Shroud through multiple waves of enemies if the player can kill the Orphix fast enough. There's also Necramech Rage and Necramech Repair to handle both energy consumption and health. If there are auxiliary mods to add, go for Redirection and Necramech Hydraulics - the latter will help the player to maneuver better in tight spaces.

The Voidrig Necramech comes with the Mausolon Arch-gun. This gun needs to be modded for maximum critical damage. Other Arch-guns can work, but a fully-modded Mausolon is more than enough to take care of the troublesome Orphix.
