Warframe, which was released on the Nintendo Switch less than a year ago, received a new trailer at TennoCon 2019. This cinematic trailer was for upcoming content, called "The New War," and the trailer offered hints at what the narrative of this content will entail.

As mentioned previously, the trailer was revealed at TennoCon 2019 by Warframe developer Digital Extremes. TennoCon is a celebration of all things Warframe, and thus the trailer's showing at the event does not come as a total surprise. Indeed, it was fitting for Warframe's upcoming content to make an appearance at TennoCon 2019.

The trailer begins with a two-person conversation taking place via radio communication. One of the people in the conversation explains that there are "unusual engine signatures" being detected, perhaps referring to alien or otherwise foreign ships or vehicles. He is then told by the other person that his crew should hold its position.

Then, an entire fleet of smaller ships are seen flying quickly through space, colliding occasionally with idle ships in the process. One of the ships crash-lands on a planet, creating a disturbing and explosive impact to some armed soldiers. The unusually-designed ship then opens to reveal a Sentient in this trailer for Warframe.

The trailer ends with one soldier collapsing to the ground, followed by the image of a Sentient looking off into the distance. Voice over seemingly states that the Sentient's existing crew "fell upon the stars and sang as one voice; a constellation, an army, a family." The suggestion within this line is that the Sentients are looking to conquer other races and species. What follows is the new content's release date: Christmas 2019.

Other than the Sentient being's somewhat cryptic message at the end, this is a fairly straightforward trailer. As a cinematic trailer, it doesn't illustrate any gameplay mechanics. Rather, the trailer proves to be solely focused on narrative.

The content's unveiling at TennoCon 2019 is significant too. Its appearance at a Warframe-centered celebration is not shocking by any means, but it is, nonetheless, a direct appeal to the fans, which is in contrast to the reveal of The Sacrifice update, which occurred in the broader context of E3 2018.

Warframe is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The New War will be available Christmas 2019.
