Digital Extreme's Warframe is a free-to-play action RPG that is known for constantly adding content to keep the game updated and provide players with new experiences to savor. A majority of these contents include new characters (called Warframe) to play as and master. Lavos is the forty-fifth Warframe added to the game recently, excluding the Prime Warframes.

Lavos brings a lot of versatility in approaching Warframe's gameplay and has a penchant for Elemental abilities. Since it is a new Warframe, there are certain things that players need to know in terms of its utilization. To help the player come to grips with Lavos the alchemist, here are a few things that players have to keep in mind. Once they are habituated to Lavos' sorcerer-style gameplay, its addition to any arsenal will be a boon.

7 Obtaining Lavos

Most of Lavos' components and blueprints can be found at Deimos. Players have to talk to an NPC called "Father". For the total of 4500 Phasic Cells, Father will provide the player with all the necessary components. There are other ways to obtain Lavos as well, with missions from Operation: Orphix Venom.

This might take the player a bit longer though, as the drop rate for the required parts is quite low. Players can also grind Void Relics and sell as many parts as they can until they obtain 325 Platinum, which can then be used for buying Lavos from the Market. In this scenario, Lavos also comes with an in-built Orokin Reactor.

6 Passive Abilities

Lavos is the first Warframe to have cooldowns on the utilization of his abilities. Previously, Warframes could use an ability multiple times until their energies were depleted and had to be replenished. With Lavos, players don't have to worry about Energy loss. Instead, they can just wait until the cooldown time for each ability is exhausted.

The only things that affect his cooldowns are Ability Efficiency mods. If Lavos pics up an Energy Orb, his negative Status effects cease to exist. For the next 10 seconds, Lavos also becomes immune to other Status effects. As a Passive Ability, this becomes quite useful as players don't have to hunt for Energy Orbs at the middle of a heated battle.

5 Ophidian Bite

The Ophidian Bite is an ability that enables Lavos to cast serpents to damage his enemies. These serpents cause Toxin damage and then leave the opponents vulnerable to melee attacks and finishers. Ability Range mods can also be used to increase the area of effect of the serpents.

Moreover, every time an enemy is damaged by the ability, Lavos regains a certain amount of his health. Both of these effects can be modified through Ability Strength mods. If players hold down the ability key for longer, the next ability that they cast can also deal Toxin damage. Pairing this with the correct element can have devastating effects.

4 Vial Rush

On using this ability, Lavos slides for a certain duration of time, all the while casting vials from his belt and leaves a trail of ice that damages enemies with Cold damage. The range and duration of this ability can be changed by incorporating Ability Range and Ability Duration mods. Once Lavos reaches the end of his line, he then causes an explosion that deals further Cold damage to his enemies.

If players want to target a specific group of enemies, they can do so by releasing the line at the opportune moment and causing the explosion early. Holding down the ability key also adds Cold damage to the next ability that is used.

3 Transmutation Probe

With this ability, Lavos launches a probe in the general direction of aiming. The probe then floats in a straight line and inflicts Electricity damage to all nearby enemies. The path length and duration of this ability can also be modified through Ability Range and Ability Duration mods.

Every enemy that is inflicted with this Electric damage reduces Lavos' cooldown timer by 1 second each. Effectively, this creates opportunities for the player to spam the ability. The electric currents from the probe also stun the enemies, thereby making it easier for the player to finish them off with strong melee attacks.

2 Catalyze

This is one of Lavos' best crowd-control abilities. Lavos sends out nine Catalyst probes that travel out in a ring formation and move around in all directions, dumping flammable gel onto all the enemies in the area. This gel inflicts Heat damage onto all the enemies, and the damage is doubled if it is coupled with a Status Effect that the enemy has already been affected with.

This ability can be modified with the Ability Range mods, and damage can also be upgraded through Ability Strength mods. Using this ability will allow players to deal with a large number of enemies simultaneously, making the battle much easier and avoiding rookie mistakes in fending off opponents.

1 How To Build Lavos

how to build lavos

Lavos is essentially a defense-based Warframe that works well in Survival and Extermination missions too. The Warframe needs to be built keeping these ideas in mind. Players will also have to keep in mind that Lavos works best when the player moves around and uses the numerous abilities to crowd-control as much as possible.

The abilities affect a large number of enemies together, and with the quick movement of Lavos, the timer cooldowns should also pose no issues. Blind Rage, Vitality, Continuity, Fleeting Expertise, and Corrosive Projection can coalesce in creating the best build for Lavos.

Warframe was first released on March 25, 2013, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
