Frost has been a fan-favorite character in Warframe for years. This is because of his wide range of capabilities and strong abilities that keep enemies at bay. Despite being a strong character in every type of game mode, many players picture frost as the primary defensive Warframe.

This is mainly due to his Snowglobe ability that covers an area with a snowy down. This ability slows enemies down and keeps them at bay while other characters, or Frost himself, take enemies down before they can harm the objective. Frost sounds like an easy character to learn, but more and more players who join the game still have no idea how he operates.

How To Obtain Frost

Lech Kril and Vor bosses Stand before open flames

Frost is one of the easier Warframes to obtain in the game. Once players have progressed far enough in the game to get to Ceres, they will want to grind through the planet's nodes until they reach the boss fight against Lech Krill and Captain Vor.

Frost's different blueprint pieces drop from this boss. Players can farm this boss until they have the blueprints for Frost's Neuroptics, Chassis, and Systems. Players can then purchase Frost's blueprint from the market for 25,000 credits. They will then be able to build the Warframe. If someone is feeling impatient they can always buy Frost from the Market for 375 Platinum.

Freeze

Frost's first ability is called Freeze. This ability has two key functions: direct and AOE. The projectile fired from this ability will travel until it strikes a surface or enemy. When an enemy is struck by the projectile it freezes in place. This ability also has an AOE effect that triggers around the area of impact. This AOE effect freezes enemies that are caught inside of it.

The augment card, Freeze Force, allows Frost to cast this ability on allies. This applies cold damage to his allies' attacks for a short period of time.

Ice Wave

Frost's second ability, Ice Wave, unleashes a wave of ice shards across the ground that reaches a base length of 20 meters. The wave of ice will travel up surfaces like ledges to reach enemies. This ability is used for larger groups of enemies and freezes all in its path.

This ability is affected by ability range and can go far beyond 20 meters when properly upgraded. The angle of the ability starts at 45 degrees and maxes out at 60. The augment card, Ice Wave Impedance, alters the ability and makes it leave behind a trail that slows enemies who cross into it.

Snow Globe

Perhaps the most used ability that Frost has in his arsenal is Snow Globe. This ability creates a globe of ice around Frost. Upon activation, the globe will push away any enemies caught in the area. The globe has its own health pool that depletes as it takes damage.

During the first 4 seconds of activation, the globe is invulnerable and any damage taken will increase its health pool. Enemies who enter the globe will be slowed. The Chilling Globe augment gives a 50% chance for enemies who enter the globe to be frozen for 8 seconds.

Avalanche

Frost's final ability is called Avalanche, which inflicts a large amount of cold damage on enemies caught within its radius. This ability both slows and freezes enemies caught in the radius. Enemies caught within the radius of this ability will also receive an armor reduction for a period of time.

This ability is great for dealing with large groups of enemies and Frost's primary crowd control ability. The Icy Avalanche augment gives allies within the radius a coat of ice that absorbs 60 damage for each enemy that is his.

Frost's Strengths & Weaknesses

Frost is a great crowd control Warframe that can help protect allies. He is great at defense game modes thanks to his Snowglobe ability that can cover the objective and protect it from damage. Frost is capable of destroying a lot of enemies at one time with his various freezing abilities.

Players who choose this Warframe should focus on his ability to control crowds and avoid taking him into stealth-based missions. Frost can easily handle the waves of enemies that come in survival missions but lacks the grace to take control in spy missions.

How To Build Frost

Frost is a defensive Warframe and builds for him should be focused on his ability to clear crowds and protect areas. Increasing the strength of Frost's abilities will allow Snow Globe to withstand tons of hits and protect allies and objectives. This type of build is mostly used for extraction and defense missions.

Other builds focus on increasing Frost's range and strength to help Avalanche freeze and damage as many enemies as possible. With 250% ability strength, Avalanche will give enemies a 100% armor reduction.
