Warframe has many resources that players can farm throughout many missions on different planets. Plastids are in high demand because they are a required material for building many items such as weapons, Warframes, and Archwings. Farming is part of all the best RPG games, and Warframe is no different.

Plastids are uncommon and typically are found in clusters of 10-30, resource drop rate bonuses excluded. They can be found on Saturn, Uranus, Phobos, Pluto, and Eris, so naturally, the best places to farm Plastids are found on these planets. Since everyone is in a different stage in their Warframe journey, it's essential to know both low-level and high-level locations that drop Plastids in order to ensure everyone can progress through the game.

Updated on September 26, 2022, by Brad R. Edwards: Despite how many changes in Warframe with frequent new updates, some things remain the same, particularly things that are most important to new players. Players interested in Warframe Plastids farm methods can rest assured that they typically remain the same no matter what. Plastids are too common for players to worry about where to farm them, but knowing the best places will certainly improve the overall efficiency. There are many resources in the game to collect so players will want to maximize their time by cross-farming.

10 Stickney (Phobos)

The Stickney mission on the planet Phobos on Warframe.

Stickney is a Survival mission with level 10-15 enemies using the Corpus Ship tile set. Even very new players should find this mission easy, and Phobos is the best planet for Plastids for those players who haven't unlocked many planets on the Star Chart. Players can take one of the best Warframe shotguns and let loose on their Plastid hunt.

Being a Survival mission, moving around while looking for Life Support machines means that players can come across natural Plastid Carapaces and lockers or crates that drop them. While looking for Plastids through these means, players should also kill as many enemies as possible, for a chance of more Plastids being dropped.

9 Helene (Saturn)

The Helene mission on Saturn on Warframe.

Helene is a Defense mission with level 21-26 enemies, making it ideal for players that are still in the early game. It uses the Grineer Galleon tile set. Using one of Warframe's better snipers can be effective for clearing enemies early and leaving time to resource farm. Just make sure that the Sniper has modded reload speed and is geared towards a guerilla sniper role. Even in a defense mission, players need to ensure they're moving around and not staying in one place.

Because Helene is a defense mission, players can guarantee that all enemies will come to the same place, which makes Plastid drops from mob-deaths likely. Using a Warframe for defense missions is a good idea. However, players may struggle to find time to thoroughly search the tile set, open lockers, and break crates. Players that are farming should look to modify their loadout so that they can easily kill enemies and still have time to look around.

8 Piscinas (Saturn)

The Piscinas mission on Saturn on Warframe.

Piscinas is a Dark Sector Survival mission with enemies in the level 21-26 range. This mission uses the Grineer Asteroid tile set and gives the players a reasonable number of Plastids without too much challenge. Players should obviously make sure that they can handle enemies in this level range, but the requirements aren't too steep.

Piscinas can net players a lot of Plastids in a 5-minute window, as well as earn players 19,000 credits every run. Make sure to extract every 5 minutes, as staying for longer doesn't result in more credits. Instead, it will only make it harder to find lockers and crates holding Plastids.

7 Ophelia (Uranus)

The Ophelia mission on Uranus on Warframe.

Ophelia is a Survival mission with level 24-29 enemies on the Grineer Sealabs tile set. Uranus presents a tougher challenge for players, so a strong loadout is advised when farming this location, along with some must-have beginner mods. Alternatively, farming with higher-level players in public matches can be an option.

Being a Survival mission, there is plenty of opportunity to roam around and break lockers and crates. Plastids are the second drop on Uranus, so players may find they start getting a few more Plastids each run than they would on Phobos or Saturn.

6 Akkad (Eris)

The Akkad mission on Eris on Warframe.

Akkad is a Dark Sector Defense mission with enemies ranging from level 35-45 on the Infested Ship tile set. Since Eris is one of the last planets players can unlock on the Star Chart, it is advisable to bring a decent loadout with ranked-up mods to ensure that players can farm without dying too often. Dark Sectors are decent because they can give players some important rewards, which can then be traded on the market as a way to earn Platinum.

Eris drops a lot of Plastids each run compared to the other planets that drop them. Players should definitely look to move their Plastid farming location to Akkad or another Eris mission as soon as their loadout allows.

5 Assur (Uranus)

The Assur mission on Uranus on Warframe

Assur is a Dark Sector Survival mission, making it a very lucrative source of farming, in general, owing to Dark Sector missions having higher drop rates. Players can expect to find a lot more Plastids by doing this mission, as long as they have the loadout required to handle a difficult planet such as Uranus

Uranus is very much a mid-game sort of planet, so players won't need to have top-tier gear but at least one decent and fairly well-leveled Warframe will serve them well.

4 Sycorax (Uranus)

The Sycorax mission on Uranus on Warframe

Sycorax is an Extermination mission on Uranus, making it a great place to farm Plastids while going through all of the tilesets and finding everything else the mission has to offer.

As with all Uranus missions, players will need a decent loadout with at least one better-than-average weapon and a decently-leveled Warframe in order to deal with the enemies there. As the mission is an Extermination mission, players will be able to get out of harm's way quite quickly without worrying about an objective.

3 Minthe (Pluto)

The Minthe mission on Pluto on Warframe

Players will want to make sure they've got decent, suitably-overpowered builds to take on Pluto, as it is one of the last planets they will unlock in the Star Chart.

Being a Mobile Defense mission, Minthe encourages players to spend lots of time running around the tileset, leading to more opportunities to farm some decent Plastids. Pluto has many much-needed resources as drop rewards, so players will pick up a lot of Rubedo, Morphics, Alloy Plates, and Fieldron Samples.

2 Palus (Pluto)

The Palus mission on Pluto on Warframe.

Pluto is one of the final planets that can be unlocked on the Star Chart. As such, it drops a great amount of Plastids. Players should make it their goal to reach as soon as their loadout allows, with decently ranked mods. Avoid the beginner mistake of using lots of unranked mods.

Palus is a Survival mission on the Corpus Ship tile set with enemies ranging from level 30-40. Being a Survival mission, it is ideal for players looking to roam around and open lockers and crates, while grabbing Life Support modules whenever the Lotus offers them.

1 Zabala - Eris

warframe galvanized status mod test

Zabala is very much a late-game location in Warframe, so players can expect it to take a while before they unlock the planet. There is much to do in the game before unlocking the planet, as not only is Warframe a looter-shooter but also one of the best free open-world games with the addition of its MMO-esque modes such as the Plains of Eidolon.

Being a late-game planet, Zabala drops plenty of resources. Players can use tiles on Eris to collect resources such as Nano Spores, Plastids, Neurodes, and Mutagen Samples. Since there is so much to do and collect in Warframe, players will want to maximize their time as much as possible to ensure they are being efficient.

Warframe is available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5.
