It's a new dawn for the RTS genre thanks to Blizzard's release of the remastered real-time strategy game Warcraft 3: Reforged. The game was initially released back in 2002, and features four competing factions, each with their own campaign. What most players are excited about is the online multiplayer, but many would like to get their bearings with the game before jumping straight into the competitive multiplayer fray.

For some players, however, the online multiplayer scene of Warcraft 3: Reforged is something they'll approach with trepidation. The solution? Practicing offline, and against AI opponents. Luckily for fans of the game, this is a very achievable goal.

Online or Offline?

When players first load into Warcraft 3: Reforged, they'll be given the option to play the game online or continue offline. Players who choose offline will lose the opportunity to go head-to-head with players online, but can still play custom games. Additionally, players who are interested in the unique campaigns of Warcraft 3: Reforged can dive into that mode while offline as well.

The advantages to playing offline are numerous. If a player has a spotty internet connection, playing offline can prevent the nasty happening of losing one's progress mid-game. This is because if a Warcraft 3: Reforged player is playing a game online, and the internet cuts out, the game will simply end and return them to the main menu.

Custom Games

In Warcraft 3: Reforgedplayers can create a custom game by going to the "Custom" tab on the main menu. From there, players will select "Create", where they'll be taken to another screen that will allow them to choose the map they would like to play. Players can also choose to give their match a name, if they should desire to.

Now that players have their own match created, they should see a series of "open slots." All players will have to do is scroll their mouse over each of these slots to change it to an AI opponent. There are multiple difficulties for AI opponents which players can select, as well as colors. Players may notice on the thumbnail of the map they're playing that each color corresponds with a specific starting point.

Finally, players can also manipulate game settings, including game speed, resources, fog of war, and more. There are also plenty of cheat codes that players can utilize if they just feel like having a good time.
