The upcoming third-person game Wanted: Dead has dropped another gameplay trailer, this time detailing the various enemies that players will face throughout the brutal journey. Wanted: Dead's cast of combatants will be no picnic to defeat, as even the basic run-of-the-mill enemies are more than capable of sending the player to the nearest game over screen.

Originally announced in 2021, Soleil Game Studios' Wanted: Dead strives to bring the brutally challenging and satisfying combat style of Ninja Gaiden into a modern cyberpunk-themed action game. Similar to Ninja Gaiden's combat, the action is precise, punishing, and rewarding since one wrong move can quickly spell death for a careless player. This makes progress feel meaningful, as each victory is hard-won and brings the player closer to mastering the game's systems. Wanted: Dead follows Hannah Stone, a Hong Kong police officer who finds herself locking swords with the forces of futuristic private militaries, mercenary groups, and criminal enterprises over the course of her investigation.

The latest gameplay trailer for Wanted: Dead covers its enemies, which range from lowly foot soldiers to enormous walking tanks. Wanted: Dead also took community feedback into account and focused on making the AI competent and challenging. When it comes to minor enemy types, some of the encounters will feature mercenaries and synthetic workers armed with construction tools and basic firearms among many others. Waves of enemies will force the player to move fast and identify priority targets to survive, and the various groups will utilize different strategies and attack patterns that players will need to counter. Even severing a limb doesn't remove an enemy from the fight, and a one-armed footsoldier can still spell death if players aren't careful.

Players will also encounter elite enemies that are significantly more threatening. Some of the tougher enemies on display in the trailer include ninjas and mercenaries equipped with armored exosuits. If players are struggling with the challenging gameplay, repeated dying will unlock the Neko Chan mode that equips Hannah with cat ears and presumably makes the encounters easier to pull through. To further ramp up the challenge, Wanted: Dead also features numerous difficult bosses such as an assassin with a cloaking device, an incredibly agile swordfighter, and a massive walking tank.

Fans of hardcore action games should have their work cut out for them trying to master Wanted Dead's systems and survive its boss fights, while the Neko Chan mode is also great news for more casual gamers who are more interested in progressing through the story.

Wanted: Dead releases on February 14 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
