With Marvel Studios' WandaVision just under two weeks away from premiering on Disney+, the promotional campaign for the series appears to be in full swing. Now, Disney has debuted a new teaser for the series that references the Avengers as well as a secret being kept by Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany's The Vision.

Having been brought to life through the power of the mind stone, Vision became one of the primary targets of Thanos' minions in Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War. While Thanos was able to acquire all six stones after murdering the Vision, the heroes who survived the Mad Titan's subsequent decimation were able to reverse his horrific actions and bring back everyone who was erased from existence by the gems in Avengers: Endgame. Unfortunately, Vision was one of a handful of characters whose demises could not be undone, though it appears Scarlet Witch will be successful in bringing back her lost lover when WandaVision debuts.

Set after the events of Endgame, Marvel Studios' WandaVision will find Scarlet Witch and Vision living an idyllic suburban life in a world that appears to emulate classic television sitcoms. Until now, previews for the series had centered on the unusual circumstances of the duo's surroundings and hinted that their new reality may be more of an illusion, with little to no references to their history with the Avengers. However, a new teaser from Disney Channel features a brief moment where the superhero team is named when Kathryn Hahn's Agnes tells Vision, "you're the Avengers," during what appears to be a scene from a previous WandaVision trailer in which she tells the android that he's supposed to be dead. The clip was preceded by a voiceover from Scarlet Witch saying, "people are on the verge of discovering our secret," suggesting the couple is trying to withhold their superhero identities from the community.

Olsen's Scarlet Witch is expected to play a pivotal role in Marvel Studios' Phase 4 line-up, which officially launches with the premiere of WandaVision. Following her appearance in the new series, Olsen will return as Scarlet Witch in Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. Production on the Doctor Strange sequel began by late November 2020, with Olsen starting work on the film after completing her scenes for WandaVision earlier the same month.

While the nature of Scarlet Witch's role throughout Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe 4 franchise remains uncertain, the potential for her to create new realities and open the door to alternate dimensions may provide some insight into the next Spider-Man film. The cast of Tom Holland's third standalone outing as the wall-crawler includes multiple actors from previous Spider-Man films that were not part of the MCU, including Alfred Molina as Doc Ock.

Adding to the speculation that Scarlet Witch will play a role in opening the multiverse is the fact that Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange will appear in the third Spider-Man film. The future sorcerer supreme will reportedly take over the role of Peter Parker's mentor, which had previously been occupied by Tony Stark until his death.

WandaVision will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on January 15, 2021.
