This article contains spoilers for multiple episodes of WandaVision.

Ever since Pietro Maximoff has appeared on Disney Plus’ WandaVision, the rumor mills and conspiracy theories have been running full steam. Fans want to figure out the truth behind Evan Peters’ arrival as Pietro, who hasn’t been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe before this. Now, the character’s newly revealed Funko Pop figure has left fans convinced that he is a fake.

Funko Inc. is an American company that creates pop culture collectibles, which have become very popular over the past decade. The company has created vinyl figurines of more than 8,000 pop culture characters. Earlier this week, the company revealed exclusive toys as part of the spring convention circuit, and “Pietro Maximoff” was one of them. While all of Funko’s figurines are sold in a white box with the character’s name printed across the front in a bold font, the fact that Pietro’s name was printed in quotation marks caught the attention of avid fans. They are certain that this is a hint towards his true identity and that Pietro isn’t truly who he claims to be.

Peters’ version of Pietro first appeared in Episode 5, “On a Very Special Episode…”, when Wanda opens the door to find her brother standing outside her home. While Darcy Lewis is quick to point out that Pietro has been “recast,” the following episode led fans to question his true motives. A conversation between the siblings in Episode 6, “All-New Halloween Spooktacular!”, during their trick-or-treat walk with Wanda’s twins, raised a lot of questions about Pietro and his identity. And the news of his Funko figure just added fuel to the flames.

While Episode 4, “We Interrupt This Program”, led many people to believe that Wanda is completely in control of the Westview anomaly, the following two episodes cast a doubt in the minds of the fans. Wanda, in a conversation with Vision, admits to not being aware of her brother’s arrival. Furthermore, there are parts of the Westview reality that Wanda seems to have no control over. In Episode 5, Wanda tries to use her magic to get her children to stop crying, but it doesn’t seem to work. This was the first clue towards somebody else lurking in the background, perhaps forcing Wanda to create the sitcom world.

One of the most common fan theories is that Pietro is in fact Mephisto and the true mastermind behind Westview who is controlling Wanda’s actions. It still remains unclear whether Peters is playing a different version of Pietro in the MCU or if he is going to turn out to be someone else entirely. Another common theory is that Peters’ arrival marks an X-Men connection. After the acquisition of Fox by Disney, many fans assumed that adding Peters’ character to WandaVision was Disney’s way of finally introducing the X-Men into the MCU.

However, there has been no mention of the possible connection on the show thus far. With Episode 7, “Breaking the Fourth Wall”, now streaming on Disney Plus, fans only have to wait two more weeks for all their questions to be answered.

The first seven episodes of WandaVision are available to stream on Disney Plus.
