So much happened during the run of WandaVision that it is almost easy to forget how close the first episode resembled a real episode of a 1950s sitcom. After a comedic misunderstanding, Wanda finds herself having to make a last-minute dinner for Vision's boss and his wife, a classic sitcom plot. Now, the popular YouTube channel Binging With Babish recreates the very 1950s menu of this dinner.

Most of the Binging With Babish YouTube channel is devoted to making meals and foods from TV and movies. In this episode, he uses Agnes the nosy neighbor's advice to Wanda as a basis for the re-creation of the dinner from the first episode of WandaVision. In the episode, Agnes says, "Well I know you're in a pinch, so this menu can be done in a snap. Lobster thermidor with mini minced meat turnovers to start, chicken a la king with twice-cooked new potatoes for your second course, and steak Diane and mint jellies for your main."

While WandaVision does not provide any in-depth recipes for this meal, the courses are period-appropriate and inspired by the culinary tastes and trends of the 1950s. Binging With Babish uses this period accuracy as a basis for which to create the recipes he uses to prepare these meals. Unsurprisingly, contrary to Agnes' claims, this menu cannot be done in a snap and takes a considerable amount of time and effort altogether.

The video moves quickly, but Babish provides all the information needed for a fan who may want to recreate any part of this meal for themselves. He goes step by step through the recipes, the methods, and the ingredients needed. He explains his reasoning for some of his choices, some being practicality, but most being rooted in being accurate to the time period. When finished, Babish plates the foods according to Agnes' menu and tastes it for himself.

WandaVision was the first of Marvel's Disney Plus shows and it was a massive success. It combines loving, detailed, and accurate homages to classic sitcoms with the world of Marvel, making it different than anything seen in the MCU before. It's worth going back to the early episodes, like this first one, to appreciate the detail in each one of them.

Of course, the series also laid the groundwork for future Marvel Studios projects, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, in which Elizabeth Olsen will reprise her role as Scarlet Witch. Agnes, on the other hand, eventually revealed herself to be the witch Agatha Harkness, though Wanda eventually brainwashed her into resuming her fabricated identity as a Westview resident, just in case the villainous magic-user was needed down the line.

WandaVision is now streaming on Disney Plus.
