We're coming up on Christmas and there are still many people who have been completely unable to buy a PlayStation 5 console at a reasonable price. Out of all the retailers selling PlayStation 5 systems and other next-generation consoles, Walmart seems to offer the most frequent chances at getting one, and now it's been confirmed that Walmart customers will have more than one opportunity to get a PS5 this week.

It's been confirmed that Walmart will have another PS5 restock on Wednesday, December 8 at 9am PT, though this will be exclusive to Walmart+ members. For the uninitiated, Walmart+ is a new subscription service for $12.95 per month that comes with various perks, including exclusive chances at getting next-generation consoles. Signing up for Walmart+ won't guarantee that shoppers will be able to buy a PS5 in time for the holidays, but it will improve one's chances.

The vast majority of Walmart PS5 restocks have been online-only, but later this week Walmart shoppers will have the chance to actually buy one in-store. The first major in-store Walmart PS5 restock has been confirmed for Saturday, December 11 at select locations around the US. Walmart shoppers can use the Gamer Drop locator tool to figure out if their store will have any PS5 consoles in stock and plan accordingly if they fail to secure one online during the December 8 restock.

Eventually, getting a PlayStation 5 console should get a little easier, though it will still take some time. PS5 console shortages are expected to continue through 2022 thanks to a variety of factors, though it's possible that it will be easier to get a PS5 come 2023. In the meantime, those interested in getting a PS5 console will have to keep trying to buy one during these restocks, or if they can't wait any longer, bite the bullet and pay over MSRP to get one from a scalper, though that's not a recommended solution.

Future console releases should go a little smoother in terms of availability, as there has been movement to make scalping illegal and do away with automated bots that eat up all the online stock. Not to mention future consoles may release at a time when the world isn't grappling with a pandemic and massive supply chain issues.
