It's been nearly a year since Sony first launched the PlayStation 5, yet there are many fans who still have yet to get their hands on the next-generation console. A combination of scalpers, the COVID-19 pandemic, chip shortages, and other issues have made it virtually impossible for some consumers to get a PS5. Those interested will soon have their next shot at getting a PS5, however, as Walmart has confirmed a PS5 restock for November 1, 2021.

The PS5 restock will be for both the regular version of the console as well as the Digital Edition. For those who may be unaware of the differences, the regular PS5 console, or the Disc Edition, costs $499 and has a disc drive. The PS5 Digital Edition costs $399 and is the same as the standard PS5 console in terms of power, but it lacks a disc drive. The Walmart PS5 restock is online-only, and both consoles will go on sale starting at 3pm ET.

Anyone that decides to try buying a PS5 console from Walmart when the restock goes live should keep some things in mind. For one, it's entirely possible that Walmart's PS5 stock will disappear as quick as it's added, so those interested will need to prepare by making sure they're already on the page and signed in to their Walmart account. Secondly, Walmart usually sells its PS5 stock in waves, and it's possible that there will be multiple restocks at 10 minute intervals or so, so those who miss out should refresh the page just in case a new time is posted.

While getting a PS5 console is still incredibly difficult, there are ways that interested consumers can make things easier on themselves. One solution is to sign up for the PlayStation Direct program, which uses an invite-only queue system to help PlayStation fans get a PS5 console. This has proven to be a reliable method for many in the past, and so it's definitely worth considering for those who still don't have a PS5.

Another possible solution for those who fail to secure a PS5 in the next Walmart restock is to sign up for the GameStop PowerUp Rewards program. GameStop gives its PowerUp Rewards members first-dibs on next-gen consoles, though generally these come in the form of pricey bundles, so fans should keep that in mind if they decide to go that route.

The PS5 console shortage is expected to continue well into 2022, so fans will just have to keep trying to get one whenever restocks are announced.
