A new retail page listing for The Walking Dead: Season Three - A New Frontier potentially confirms the launch date for the next major entry in the long running episodic series.

It's already been a busy 2016 for Telltale Games as the studio has released multiple episodes for its Walking Dead Michonne spin off series along with two new Batman: The Telltale Series episodes as well. After a number of teases, the studio is preparing to return to its popular The Walking Dead series very soon with season three. Even though fans got a general release window during a Telltale Games panel last month at PAX West, retailers may have spilled the beans by posting the actual release date ahead of schedule.

An eagle eyed Reddit user named vstratosphere5 noticed that a recently posted retail listing for The Walking Dead: Season Three - A New Frontier revealed an actual release date of November 15, 2016. The date information in question comes from JB Hi-Fi, an Australian retail store, even though an actual launch date has yet to be officially confirmed by anyone at Telltale.

The date itself does fall on a Tuesday, a traditional release date for video games in North America, especially one that come from Telltale. Not only that, the leaked date of November 15, 2016 matches the one listed on Amazon, lending some credibility to this potential release date. Still, until a representative from Telltale confirms the new information, gamers are urged to treat this with a grain of salt.

While not much is known about The Walking Dead: Season Three, the timeline has jumped forward by about four years after the events of the previous game to better align with the comics. Not only are players getting a more experienced Clementine, new characters such as Javier are also joining the fray. It will be interesting to see how Telltale responds to a fan base that was left largely divided over the use of overly familiar gameplay mechanics and varying level of quality between the first and second seasons.

This year alone, retailers have proven to be a great source of information for fans, though more than likely a thorn in the side for game developers. While fans have always known Rise of the Tomb Raider was a timed exclusive for Xbox One and Windows 10, an Italian GameStop post earlier this year accidentally revealed the date that PlayStation 4 fans could finally get their hands on the title.

Leaks were another common theme prior to E3 this year, as fans got an earlier than expected look at Watch Dogs 2 thanks to an advertisement that went live before the planned reveal stream. Plus, there was a pre-reveal poster that confirmed the next fighting game from NetherRealm Studios would be Injustice 2.
