The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is set to launch for PC-powered virtual reality headsets on January 23, serving as the first full-fledged Walking Dead VR game. Despite the game's release date being so close, a lot of details about it have been kept secret, though the developers have recently started publishing Behind the Scenes videos that give fans a better idea of what to expect.

A recent Behind the Scenes video for The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners focuses on the story. Like other Walking Dead video games, Saints and Sinners will have a choice-driven narrative, with players having to make tough decisions and then live with the consequences. Players will be making these choices while cooperating with two distinct factions: The Tower and the Reclaimed.

The Tower faction is all about surviving at all costs, disregarding individuality or morality. The Reclaimed, meanwhile, are the exact opposite. There's also the Exiles to take into consideration, who are groups of people who don't entirely fit in with The Tower or the Reclaimed. The player character, known as the "Tourist," falls into the Exile category.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is set one year after the zombie outbreak in New Orleans, Louisiana. This change of scenery from the Georgia area featured in the main Walking Dead comic and TV show gives the developers more freedom when it comes to developing the story. It's been teased that familiar motifs and themes from the core Walking Dead franchise will still be represented in Saints and Sinners, but players should otherwise expect a completely original narrative.

With Telltale's The Walking Dead already focusing a lot on story, some fans may be more interested in gameplay. Luckily, some Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners gameplay has also recently been made available as well. As far as VR games go, it appears to be a bit more fully-featured than most, though it remains to be seen if the final product lives up to expectations.

Horror games and virtual reality seem to go well together, and what we've seen of The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners so far is reassuring. However, The Walking Dead video game track record isn't exactly a perfect one, so fans will have to wait and see how this game turns out later this week.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners launches on January 23 for PC-powered VR headsets and will come to PlayStation VR and Oculus Quest later this year.
