The Walking Dead franchise is finding a great deal of success in the virtual reality space, with The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners greatly exceeding expectations. The next Walking Dead VR game is expected to launch later this year in the form of The Walking Dead: Onslaught, and it's since been confirmed that the game will feature performances by cast members from the AMC TV series.

The Walking Dead: Onslaught is set in the same world as the AMC show, and it will feature Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, Melissa McBride as Carol, and Josh McDermitt as Eugene. In the recent Upload VR Showcase event, Reedus confirmed that he has finished recording his lines for the game, and that a proper gameplay reveal will be dropping at some point later this summer.

Considering the success of The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, it will definitely be interesting to see if Onslaught takes inspiration from that game or goes in a different direction. Fans should find out more within the next couple of months.

Some fans may recall that The Walking Dead: Onslaught isn't the first Walking Dead video game to see Norman Reedus reprise his role as Daryl Dixon. Back in 2013, Activision published The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, though it received rather scathing reviews at the time of release. Time will tell if Onslaught is received better, but so far The Walking Dead franchise seems to have found its groove in the VR space.

The Walking Dead: Onslaught will launch later this year for Oculus, PlayStation VR, and Steam VR.
